Family Service League Overview
Family Service League has two programs; the counseling program and SAVE of Essex County. SAVE of Essex county is the county's r**e care center that provides 24/7 hotline, advocacy, and training on sexual assault. Our Core Goals:
- To help families identify and access their own strengths and resources to build healthy relationships
- To provide individuals, families
and communities with the tools they need to cope with crises
- To offer outstanding counseling, therapy, social and educational services regardless of financial status
- To be a leader in New Jersey and in the New York metropolitan area in the comprehensive training of counselors in family therapy as an approach to personal and interpersonal difficulties
- To provide free, confidential, round-the-clock access to support and services for survivors of sexual violence, including advocacy,accompaniment, information, referrals and therapy services free of charge
- To work toward preventing sexual violence through education, outreach and crisis services and to support public officials and policy makers who share this objective
- To proactively strengthen families in Essex County through targeted community programs, including group workshops, collaborative services, and other initiatives
- To promote the academic, social and professional success of at-risk youth
- To provide the highest quality early childhood education and child care to families, regardless of income

For more than 130 years, Family Service League has strengthened and supported families in need in Essex County through counseling, education and social services. Our dedicated and experienced staff helps families, couples, individuals and children lead healthy and productive lives. We work every day to help families access their own emotional resources - as well as the resources of the community - in order to help them build and sustain fulfilling relationships and lead productive lives. Our services are specifically designed to assist families and individuals who could not otherwise access the help they need. More than 99% of our counseling clients qualify for reduced rates based on their household income. Many of our services are offered to the community at no cost, including all of the services of SAVE of Essex County; our social skills workshops in area schools, and our crisis services for families and communities. INTERNSHIPS
We are proud that the leading schools of social work throughout the New York metropolitan area, including Columbia, Fordham, Rutgers and NYU, look to Family Service League as a selective internship placement for their students. FSL also offers internship opportunities to MFT students from Seton Hall and Kean University.
