Every healthy smile begins with a welcoming door: and the caring leaders who help families feel at home.

At KinderSmile Foundation’s Dental Homes in Bloomfield, Newark, and Trenton, our Dental Home Teams guide families through appointments, insurance and NJ FamilyCare, and connections to preventive care. Their warmth helps children and caregivers access care that supports oral health and whole-body wellbeing.

To our Dental Home Team Members: Thank you for making every family feel seen, supported, and connected to a lasting Dental Home. Your dedication strengthens healthier families and communities.

We gratefully thank the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, America's ToothFairy, Delta Dental of New Jersey and Connecticut, Partners for Health, Provident Bank, Princeton Area Community Foundation, The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey, The Montclair Foundation, and The George H. and Estelle M. Sands Foundation for helping to expand access.

Healthy gums support a healthy body. Swollen, tender, or bleeding gums deserve attention: not avoidance.

Families can protect gum health by brushing gently twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between teeth each day, choosing water more often, and scheduling regular visits at a Dental Home. If symptoms continue, contact a dental professional.

For pregnant and postpartum mothers, hormonal changes can make gums more sensitive. KinderSmile Foundation’s Perinatal Health & Wellness Program provides oral health education and helps mothers connect with care, supporting maternal and family wellbeing.
Thank you to Fund for Women and Girls and Planned Parenthood of Northern, Central, and Southern New Jersey for their support as PHWP grantors, and we recognize the Partnership for Maternal & Child Health of Northern New Jersey as a valued community partner.

Healthy habits, trusted education, and a Dental Home help families protect their smiles and whole-person health. Learn more and find support at https://www.kindersmile.org

Community care helps children and families build healthy futures.

Through the KinderSmile Oral Health Program (KSOHP), KinderSmile Foundation brings community-centered oral health education and preventive services to children and caregivers where they live, learn, and grow. Community Service Learning Program (CSLP) volunteers strengthen this work while gaining meaningful, hands-on experience that helps prepare the next generation of dental and public health leaders.

Prevention is a shared effort. When families need continued care, KSF helps connect them to a trusted Dental Home: not just a screening. Because oral health is essential to whole-person health, this pathway supports healthier children, mothers, caregivers, and families.

Thank you to the volunteers, educators, caregivers, and community members who make access, learning, and service possible. Together, we are building a community where every family can find support, prevention, and a path to ongoing dental care.

Healthy habits begin at home, and children learn best when healthy routines feel fun, familiar, and full of encouragement.💛

Caregivers can help children follow the Rule of Twos: brush two times a day for two minutes each, and visit the dentist two times a year. These simple habits help protect growing smiles and support overall health, because the mouth is connected to the rest of the body.

Through the Community Service Learning Program (CSLP), future healthcare leaders help bring education, prevention, and caring connections into the communities KSF serves. Together, we are helping children build confidence, healthy routines, and a path to a Dental Home.

As September continues, look for KSF community events offering free health services and family wellness resources. Learn more at https://ow.ly/abxr50ZFiye

As we celebrate the 10-year anniversary of our very first Dental Home, established in August 2016, we reflect on a decade of providing comprehensive, compassionate dental care to children and families who need it most. Over the past ten years, we have expanded our reach through our Community Oral Health Centers in Bloomfield, Newark, and Trenton, serving over 8,800 patients annually and delivering more than $21 million in in-kind dental services.

Whether it is our flagship Oral Health Program bringing screenings directly to schools, our Perinatal Health & Wellness Program (PHWP) empowering mothers to prevent early childhood caries (meaning cavities), or our Community Service Learning Program (CSLP) training future healthcare leaders, our mission remains steadfast: oral health is the gateway to total health and wellbeing.

Thank you to our incredible community, dedicated staff, and vital grantors and partners including: Delta Dental of New Jersey and Connecticut, Partners for Health, America's ToothFairy Mobile Lab Techs, Boys & Girls Club of Newark, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Princeton Area Community Foundation, The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey, Provident Bank, The George H. and Estelle M. Sands Foundation, and The Montclair Foundation for helping us build healthier smiles across New Jersey for a decade. Here is to many more years of community care.
