On Thursday night, May 14, the Blauvelt Sons of Italy proudly hosted its annual Scholarship Awards Dinner. During the evening, scholarships were awarded to 17 graduating high school seniors to assist with college and trade school tuition expenses.

This year, the lodge was also honored to commemorate the lives of two departed Brothers — “Bocce” Lou Maiello and Anthony “The Shirt” DiPrima — by establishing scholarships in their memory.

All scholarships are made possible through the lodge’s year-round fundraising efforts and the continued generosity of our members, supporters, and local community. The Blauvelt Sons of Italy is proud to support these outstanding young men and women as they pursue their goals in higher education and the skilled trades.

The lodge extends its sincere gratitude to the following individuals and groups whose generosity and dedication helped make this special evening possible:

- Lodge President Anthony Albanese
- The DeSimone, Dolce, Malora, Maiello, Scaringe, Sica, Siciliano, Source, and Viglietta families for their generous financial contributions
- All members of Rockland Lodge 2176 who contributed their time and effort to our fundraising initiatives

Last night, Senator Bill Weber and our Lodge hosted the 3rd Annual Meatball Cookoff & Italian Dinner. The competition was fierce and the meatballs were yummy. Congratulations to all the winners!

Yesterday, the Italian Club students from South Orangetown Middle School came to visit our lodge to learn how to play bocce. The kids had a great time and they got to enjoy hot dogs & cannoli as a snack.

Our Lodge enjoyed having these wonderful students and their teachers visit, and we look forward to doing it again. Events like this help us share Italian culture, traditions, and community spirit with the next generation.
