💙 VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: KYLA 🐕🦺💙
Today, we want to take a moment to recognize someone very special to Guardian Shepherd Service Dogs — Kyla! 💙
Kyla is not just a volunteer who shows up. She is someone who consistently puts in the time, effort, and heart it takes to help our dogs become well-trained service dogs for Veterans.
From the not-so-glamorous jobs like cleaning kennels, scooping p**p, feeding dogs, and keeping the facility running, to the fun stuff like playing with the dogs, building relationships, and helping with training, Kyla gives her time wherever it is needed.
And recently, she has taken another exciting step in her journey toward becoming a future K9 trainer — getting the opportunity to take one of our Service Dogs in Training (SDiT) out into the community to work on public access, exposure, and real-world experiences. 🐕🦺
These experiences are incredibly important. A service dog doesn't just need to know commands in a training facility. They need to learn how to calmly and appropriately navigate the world around them — stores, public spaces, distractions, different environments, and everyday situations.
Kyla is helping make those experiences possible. ❤️
Volunteers like Kyla are a HUGE part of what allows Guardian Shepherd Service Dogs to do what we do. Every hour spent cleaning, training, socializing, exercising, transporting, or simply giving a dog some much-needed attention contributes to preparing these dogs for their future jobs and, ultimately, helping Veterans receive the well-trained service dogs they deserve.
We are incredibly grateful for Kyla and the dedication she continues to show.
