Your Gifts at Work | Serving Those in Need

Sometimes serving our neighbors looks like a warm meal, a safe place to sleep, help with rent or utilities, or simply a cup of coffee and a donut shared in community. ☕🍩

St. Vincent de Paul volunteers throughout Western South Dakota put their faith into action by caring for neighbors who are experiencing difficult times. These simple acts of generosity create opportunities to build community while providing meaningful support to those in need.

Through the generosity of our donors, the Western South Dakota Catholic Foundation is helping support ministries like the St. Vincent de Paul of Rapid City, and Spearfish/Belle Fourche conferences, the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store Spearfish SD the St. Francis Fund, Cornerstone Rescue Mission, and Church Response.

Together, these ministries provide food, emergency assistance, shelter, clothing, and other essential services to people facing difficult circumstances.

This is what your generosity makes possible. Together, we are living the Gospel by caring for our neighbors and bringing Christ’s love to those who need it most.

Father Max Vetch is representing the Western South Dakota Catholic Foundation in our Driving Faith Forward Challenge, and we’re bringing some friendly competition to the Bishop’s Golf Classic on August 31!

The goal is simple: raise the most support and get his ball closest to the hole!

More than 130 guests gathered for the annual Surgite Eamus Mass & Dinner with Bishop Scott Bullock, celebrating priestly vocations and supporting the formation of future priests.

Thanks to the generosity of our guests and supporters, more than $57,000 was raised for seminarian education and formation, before event expenses. We’re also grateful to the 20+ volunteers who helped make the evening possible!

The recap includes videos from the evening, including Deacon Josiah Hansen sharing his vocation story and Bishop Bullock reflecting on the stories behind two chalices. Fr. Mark McCormick also shared stories on several chalices during the program.

50 years of faith, community, and the Black Elk Catholic Retreat Center! ❤️ (formerly Sioux Spiritual Center)

We celebrated this special anniversary with Mass, lunch, and a beautiful program featuring three of the Center’s founders, who shared memories and stories from its beginning.

What happens when God’s plan is different from the one you’ve made for yourself?

At this year’s Surgite Eamus Mass & Dinner with Bishop Scott Bullock, Deacon Josiah Hanson shared the story of how God gently redirected his plans during a time of prayer and Eucharistic Adoration.

Josiah had a plan. It was a good plan. But in the quiet of the adoration chapel, he heard the Lord say, “This is good, but it’s not what I have for you.”

It took weeks of prayer, listening, and learning to trust God before Josiah recognized that the Lord was inviting him to seminary.

Today, Deacon Josiah is continuing his journey toward the priesthood.

His story is a beautiful reminder that God may have something different planned for us than what we have planned for ourselves. Sometimes, we simply have to be still enough to listen and courageous enough to trust.

🙏 Lord, help us to recognize Your voice, trust Your plan, and say yes to where You are calling us.
