Friends of the Black River (WI)

Friends of the Black River (WI) The Friends of the Black River is a citizen-led organization dedicated to enhancing the Black River and its watershed.

The Black River is special and irreplaceable. It flows for nearly 200 miles from the Medford area to La Crosse where it joins the Mississippi River. Along the way it provides high-quality recreation, habitat, scenic beauty and economic benefits. The Black River has been included on the list of Wisconsin's Land Legacy Places (places that are critical in meeting Wisconsin's future conservation and r

ecreation needs) because of its unique, pristine condition. Rivers as clean and natural as the Black River are becoming more and more difficult to find.
