Today, on International Firefighters’ Day, we proudly recognize and thank the dedicated volunteers of the Big Rock Volunteer Fire Department for their selfless service and unwavering commitment to the volunteer fire community.

Your willingness to serve—often with little recognition and great personal sacrifice—reflects the very best of firefighting traditions practiced around the world. From emergency response to training and community support, your dedication helps safeguard lives and property while strengthening the fabric of our community.

On this day of global appreciation, we honor your courage, professionalism, and service. Thank you for all you do, and for standing shoulder to shoulder with firefighters across the world.

🚒 Training Day at Big Rock Fire Department 🚒

Today our members spent the day sharpening their skills during Extrication Training, practicing multiple techniques used to safely and efficiently remove patients from vehicles during emergency situations. From stabilization and tool operations to patient-centered rescue methods, our team worked through realistic scenarios focused on safety, teamwork, and preparedness.

Training like this ensures our members remain ready to respond when seconds matter most. We are proud of the dedication shown by everyone involved and committed to continually improving the service we provide to our community.

Train like lives depend on it… because they do. 💪🚒

A great big Special Thanks to Griffey’s Towing and Shannon Aranda Griffey for their donation of the vehicles used for training purposes.

🚨 Burning Law in Effect – February 15 through April 30 🚨
Big Rock Fire Department Reminder

Virginia’s seasonal burning law is now in effect to help reduce the risk of wildfires during dry conditions. Please review and follow these important guidelines:

🔥 Key Points of the Burning Law:

• No outdoor burning until AFTER 4:00 P.M. if you are within 300 feet of woodland, grass, or brushland.
• Any fire within 150 feet of woodland, grass, or brushland must be attended at all times.
• No fuel may be added or fires rekindled after midnight.
• The law applies to campfires, warming fires, brush piles, household trash, stumps, fields of broomstraw, brush, or anything capable of spreading fire.

💰 Maximum Fine: Up to $500 for violations.

These regulations are in place to protect our community, property, and natural resources from preventable wildfires.

For more information, contact the Virginia Department of Forestry.

Please burn responsibly and help us keep our community safe. 🚒🌲
