Earlier this year, SGPC organised a hands-on grooming clinic with 5* Professional groom Sarah Tompkins of Supreme Equine Grooming, covering all aspects of show prep: braiding, mane pulling, bathing tips, quarter marks, and perfecting standing wraps.

We were delighted to welcome members from across the NYUC - New York Upper Connecticut Region, USPC to join us, and a huge thank you to Sperry View Farm for hosting.

A big thank you also to Sarah for sharing her expertise and making it such a great clinic.

The club were lucky to have the opportunity to attend a Rider Biomechanics clinic with Virginia Leary today

Virginia is a Grand Prix Dressage rider and dressage judge. She helps riders and horses become straighter, more balanced, and more comfortable. Understanding how your position affects your horse is foundational to every rider no matter the discipline.

As well as watching club member Molly put through her paces. We learnt exercises on the ground that we can take home to practice before our next ride!

New York Upper Connecticut Regional Quiz 2026 in the books. We had 9 teams from 7 different clubs across 3 regions. While Quiz Rally is focused on all of the young competitors demonstrating their horse knowledge, team work and leadership skills we could not run Quiz Rally without all of the volunteers that arrived with each team. Thank you to all our volunteers!

This weekend also saw pony club members from SGPC as well as Connecticut Valley Pony Club competing at the last of the Sperry View Farm Schooling Jumper shows. Lots of fun was had dressing up in the costume class, competing for series end awards as well as special Pony Club placings.

Thanks as always to our members running the Bake Sale as our club fundraiser, and SGPC member anniebrintonphotography for the photos.
