The Kensington Garden Club and the Peck Memorial Library are excited to invite you to a program on Thursday, April 16, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Open to the public!

Come and join us for “Gardening Under the Stars: Saving our Nocturnal Pollinators & Our Health”. Discover how outdoor lighting affects the environment and how you can help reduce light pollution in your own backyard.

As the sun sets, many important insects that help pollinate plants start their nighttime activities. Recent studies indicate that the light from our homes and other outdoor areas is harming these nocturnal insects, migratory birds, and other wildlife, as well as our own well-being.

To register for the program, please visit the library’s website at this link: https://berlinpeck.org/events/gardening-under-the-stars-saving-our-nocturnal-pollinators-our-health/
If you choose to attend online during registration, you’ll receive a Zoom link.

About the Presenter: Margery Winters is a seasoned naturalist and instructor at Roaring Brook Nature Center in Canton, where she’s thrilled to share her love for earth science and nature with students of all ages. She oversees the Nature Center’s native plant gardens and is a strong advocate for the importance of native plants in landscape design. As a Master Landscape Design Consultant and former chair of the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut Landscape Design Study Program, she brings a wealth of knowledge to the table.
