The Friends of the Pamlico Library is an enthusiastic and generous supporter of the Pamlico Public Library.

The Friends provide private funding to the library to enhance and enrich the services the library can offer the community.

We hope you will join us this Thursday, June 18th at 5:15pm at the library for our summer membership meeting, featuring our special guest author, Dennis Bickel. Dennis will talk about his book, The Reluctant Messenger, and his writing process. Here's a short blurb to whet your appetite for more:

The story begins when a young priest is given a document and charged with getting it evaluated by the Vatican Archives. There are forces in the church that would like this package to disappear. The book identifies the many powers at play in the Catholic Church today. My book is not a historical drama but more of a modern questioning of traditions. Would the Catholic Church destroy the proof, or would they use it to change centuries of tradition? (Source: Amazon)

We are delighted to announce the start of a pet food pantry program at the Pamlico County Public Library. In partnership with the Pamlico Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), 4 PAWS of Pamlico, and the Friends of the Pamlico County Public Library, we will gratefully accept donations of cat and dog food and cat litter anytime the library is open. You can also set up a one-time or recurring donation with Amazon, Chewy, Walmart or Petsmart with delivery to the library. (13896 Highway 55 , Bayboro, NC 28515)

People needing food or litter can either call PAWS [252-745-PAWS (7297)] anytime or meet our volunteers the second Saturday of each month at the library between 10 and 2.

Our plan is to expand the program to additional sites throughout the county and partner with other charitable giving organizations.

This year's a Story Runs Through It Event kicks off on Saturday, May 16 with PAC collaborating with the Friends of Pamlico Public Library to host an engaging, interactive children’s storytelling hour at the Pamlico Public Library in Alliance, NC. See all the details at the PamlicoArts.org.

Swing by the Pamlico Library tomorrow between 10 AM and 2 PM to check out the Friends of the Library monthly book “sale” at the Book Nook, located just behind the library. Feel free to take as many books as you’d like, and donate as you are able. Come see us!

Today, April 21, is National Library Workers Day, a great time to see what’s new at the Pamlico Library and to thank librarians and library workers for their contributions. The Friends of the Pamlico County Public Library needs help with our new gardens! Join us on Tuesday, April 21, at 12 PM noon to help install sod and plant new greenery under the expert guidance of Rachel Tipton, the owner of Harbourside Gardens.

Additionally, on Tuesday, April 22, we could use some help returning the sod cutter to Havelock, preferably during the morning hours.

While we await the installation of our watering system, we also need assistance with watering the sod and plants. This can be done during the library's open hours in the morning or afternoon.

Come by our Book Nook (located behind the library) this Saturday from 10-2 and enjoy perusing our new collection of fiction, nonfiction, children’s books, and homeschool materials. There are no set prices—take as much as you want and donate as you are able. Please share among friends, family, and colleagues.
