With some Medicare recipients receiving a one-time $90 rebate this October, Hope Clinic invites those who may not need these additional funds to consider making a gift that supports healthcare right here in our community.

The need for affordable healthcare continues to grow. Changes in health insurance costs and coverage have left many working adults struggling to afford the care they need. In fact, North Carolina saw a 22% decline in Affordable Care Act Marketplace plan selections for 2026.

Hope Clinic, a 501©(3) nonprofit organization serving Pamlico and surrounding counties, provides whole-person medical care, medications, chronic disease management, recovery support services, and other essential healthcare services at no cost to eligible uninsured and underinsured adults.

Whether it’s $90 or any amount, your generosity helps ensure our neighbors have access to the healthcare they deserve.

Today, Hope Clinic’s staff and board (but missing our staff member, Angie) stepped away from our usual routines for our annual retreat at Camp Don Lee, a day we look forward to each year to reconnect, recharge, and grow together.

Our morning began with teambuilding activities led by Katie from Camp Don Lee, with plenty of laughter along the way!

We were then joined by our wonderful guest speaker, Heather C. Brewer, an author, therapist, and speaker. Heather guided us through conversations about burnout and compassion fatigue, mindfulness, healthy boundaries, adapting to change, recognizing our strengths, and the importance of caring for ourselves while caring for others.

In healthcare, we spend so much of our time taking care of others, and her message was a wonderful reminder that caring for ourselves, and each other, is important, too.

And, of course, no retreat at Camp Don Lee would be complete without their wonderful fried chicken lunch! A huge thank you to Katie and the entire Camp Don Lee staff for making us feel so welcome and taking such good care of us.

We also had an extra reason to celebrate…Rachel’s birthday! 🎂 We topped off lunch with a delicious birthday cake from Sweet Annie’s!

Thank you to Heather, Katie, Camp Don Lee Camp Don Lee, and all of our staff and board members who made today so special.

We’re heading back refreshed, reconnected, and grateful for this team. ❤️
