26 in 2026 - Cars for Keeps is looking for 26 people in 2026 who are willing to commit to giving just $20 per month through our ONE Family Program.

When 26 people come together and give $20 each month, they create the funding needed to help change the life of one local family through reliable transportation.

For many families, a vehicle is more than transportation. It's:
✅ Getting to work
✅ Taking children to daycare and school
✅ Making medical appointments
✅ Building stability and independence

Most of us can spend $20 without thinking about it. But when 26 people unite around a common purpose, that same $20 becomes an opportunity for a family to move forward.

Saturday started off wet and rainy, but the skies cleared just in time for a wonderful afternoon with our Cars for Keeps families at Columbian Park.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to bring our recipient families together to enjoy good food, great conversation, and time spent building community. Seeing families connect, laugh, and make memories reminds us that Cars for Keeps is about so much more than transportation.

Brittany recently drove away in a 2019 Jeep Cherokee, and we couldn’t be happier for her! When she’s not behind the wheel of her new ride, she’s making a difference through her work with Food Finders, helping ensure that food reaches those in need throughout our community.
We’re honored to have helped Brittany find reliable transportation that supports both her daily life and her mission of serving others. Thank you for all you do, Brittany, and congratulations on your new Jeep!

Do you need a vehicle but traditional financing is not an option?

Cars for Keeps helps individuals and families move toward stability through vehicle ownership and financial guidance.

To be considered for the program, applicants must:
Be employed full time
Meet income eligibility requirements
Be able to afford a vehicle payment, insurance, and fuel
Be unable to obtain traditional vehicle financing

Our vehicle assistance program provides reliable transportation, a Budgeting Basics course, a lease-to-own system that fits within your budget, and the opportunity to fight poverty.

We are incredibly honored and grateful to be a recipient of grant funding through the Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette's latest round of community investments. The foundation recently awarded more than $3 million in grants to local organizations. 

This funding will help Cars for Keeps take a major step forward to secure a permanent facility and moving toward obtaining an auto dealer's license. These milestones will strengthen our ability to provide reliable transportation to individuals and families working toward a brighter future.

Reliable transportation changes lives. It creates access to employment, education, healthcare, and financial stability. We are thankful to our supporters, volunteers, donors, and community partners who help make this mission possible every day.

We are thrilled to announce The Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette completed a transformative grant cycle this summer, awarding more than $3 million in Impact Grants to local nonprofits. This funding was made possible by Lilly Endowment Inc. through the Community Support Grant component of the ninth phase of its Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT IX) initiative.

These funds enabled us to identify and support both ‘big idea’ projects and critical infrastructure improvements that address pressing local needs and strengthen the quality of life for Tippecanoe County residents.

Today, Jennifer received her 2019 Jeep Cherokee through our lease-to-own program, and we couldn't be happier for her.

Reliable transportation means more than getting to work on time. It means less stress, greater independence, and more opportunities for both Jennifer and her 3 children.

We are inspired by Jennifer's hard work and determination, and we're honored to be a small part of her journey.

Meet Taylor, a hardworking single mom of two little ones under the age of 4. Every day, she’s balancing the demands of parenting, work, and building a better future for her family.

Today, that journey got a little easier.

Taylor is now the proud owner of a “new‑to‑her” 2017 Subaru. A reliable vehicle with plenty of life left in it. In fact, we’re hopeful this car will still be running strong when her oldest is ready for their very first set of keys in 12 years.
