🎃Halloween Fun Trap Shoot 🎃
Saturday, October 31st

When: Saturday, October 31st, show up between 11:00 pm - 1:00 pm - just enough time to get in a few rounds before trick-or-treating 😉

Information: Open to all Battle Creek Sportsmen's Club members and their guests

Cost: Members 8$ non members 10$ per line (updated to cover giveaways) of whatever we decide to shoot - 25 targets

The Fun:
The trap machine will have more colors than your kids' candy basket!
Break a white bird and win a coupon for a free line to be used in 2027
Break a black bird and win your pick of a pop, candy bar, or a bag of chips.
Break an orange, green, or pink bird and win... bragging rights!
We will end with a double-the-fun line of doubles

Conditions:
All skill and experience levels are welcome.
Youth are welcome! However, youth under the age of 18 need to have a parent or guardian present.
All gauges and types of sh****ns are acceptable.
Limited loaner guns available; you must provide your own ammo. (20 or 12 gauge)
Ear and eye protection required.
We all know ammo is expensive and hard to find. Lead shot sizes 7.5, 8, 8.5 and 9 are OK; 7.5 and 8 are recommended. Steel shot size 7 works well too.

Reminder to our members:

Hunter Safety will be utilizing the pistol range tomorrow, Saturday Oct 24, 2026, from 8:00 am until about 2:00 pm.

Range is closed to members during that time.

Reminder to all of our members as we kick off our 2027 Membership Renewal Season.
We require annual waivers from all of our membership, so please don't forget to complete that when renewing.
If you have joined since June 2026 and paid the $150 (which covers your membership through 2027) please go to the below link and fill out a new waiver for each member.

Note: Renewal payment must be received or post marked no later than November 1st or a late fee of $10.00 is assessed. If mailing payment, send to Sportsman's Club of Battle Creek, PO Box 1133, Battle Creek, MI 49016.

🎃 October Open Trap Shooting Day! 🎃

Join us for our upcoming Open Trap Shooting Day at the Battle Creek Sportsman's Club! Whether you're a seasoned shooter or picking up a sh***un for the very first time, all skill and experience levels are welcome.

📅 When: Saturday, October 17 from 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM (or until dark/we run out of targets! We will keep going as long as people are shooting!
📍 Where: Battle Creek Sportsman's Club
💵 Cost: $6 for members | $8 for non-members (per line of trap / 25 birds)

Important Details:

REMINDER: BOARD MEETING/MEMBERSHIP MEETING & ELECTIONS TOMORROW NIGHT

Our next Board Meeting is tomorrow, October 14, at 7:00 PM at the pistol range (bring lawn chairs).

This is an important meeting because Board elections will be held, and we still have several open positions. If you have ever considered getting more involved with the club, helping shape its future, or bringing new ideas to the Board, this is a good opportunity.

You must attend the meeting and place your name on the ballot for consideration for one of the open positions.

Today we honor the life and legacy of Jack Weston Cox, a true outdoorsman, dedicated hunter, Hunter Safety Instructor, and a valued member of our club for more than 50 years.

Jack’s commitment to the outdoors went far beyond his own enjoyment of hunting and shooting sports. Through his service as a Hunter Safety Instructor, he helped teach generations of new hunters the importance of safety, responsibility, respect, and conservation.

More than five decades of club membership represents a lifetime of memories, friendships, service, and dedication. Jack was part of the history of this club, and his contribution to our outdoor community will not be forgotten.

We extend our sincere condolences to Jack’s family, friends, fellow instructors, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest in peace, Jack. Thank you for the many years you gave to our club, our hunting community, and the next generation of outdoorsmen and women.

Obituary:

Jack Weston Cox, 85, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. He was born July 10, 1941 in Battle Creek, MI the son of Harry C. Weston-Cox and Ruth (Kirsch) Cox.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 2, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. Burial will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI. Arrangements by the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service.
