Their purpose is to help the Bellevue Community and surrounding areas in time of need. It began in the early 1970’s and then in 1993 the Bellevue Good Samaritan Food Pantry became a corporation with the involvement of the Bellevue Ministerial Association, interested businesses and citizens of the Village of Bellevue. For many years it operated at the Bellevue Methodist Church and in 2019 Dr. Waldo
Frankenstein donated his medical building to the organization for its use. They monitor and try to limit assistance to each family to twelve times per year and in doing so help meet the needs of thousands of families. Through donations, they distribute baskets of food to area families at Christmas time and presents using the Wish Upon A Star program, which was started in 2005. Gifts for this program are donated by local citizens. For many years, the Food Pantry organized the Thanksgiving Turkey dinner fundraiser with a tremendous amount of support from the communities. Some of the ways the Food Pantry can give assistance is through generous donations of the following:
• Charitable donations
• Local food drives
• Individual food donations can be dropped off at the Food Pantry, Bellevue Independent Bank or Bellevue Village Hall
• Monetary donations are a large part of the budget and can be mailed to: Bellevue Good Samaritan Food Pantry, P.O. Box 53, Bellevue, MI 49021
• 2024 first annual Silent Auction
