What a fantastic weekend at Prairieville Fire Department for our latest Safe & In Charge: Sitter Superstars class! 🎉

We had an incredible group of students spend the day building the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to stay safe, make smart decisions, and become responsible leaders at home and in their communities.

From first aid and emergency preparedness to fire safety, babysitting basics, and how to respond when the unexpected happens, these future leaders tackled every lesson with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. We couldn’t be more proud of the questions they asked, the skills they practiced, and the confidence they gained throughout the day.

A huge thank you to Prairieville Fire Department for hosting us and helping make this class possible. Partnerships like these allow us to continue bringing life-saving education directly to the communities we serve.

Parents, you should be proud—these students absolutely knocked it out of the park! 👏

🎓 Scholarship Applications Are Now Open! 🎓

We are proud to once again offer scholarship opportunities for the children of Foundation members!

This year, four scholarships of $2,500 each will be awarded to deserving students pursuing higher education. In addition, the top-rated applicant will receive the prestigious Justin Westbrook Memorial Award, a special scholarship of $3,000.

Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, books, or other educational expenses at an accredited college or university.

We say it time and time again, but we are so incredibly lucky to have made the friends and partners we have along this journey of bringing fire and life safety education to communities across Louisiana.

Over the past two weeks, the Louisiana Firefighters Foundation had the incredible honor of being featured as the nonprofit spotlight on billboards across the region, including I-12 at Millerville (BR), Burbank at Highland (BR), and Airline Highway in Prairieville near Walmart.

This opportunity was made possible through our friends at 100 Strong, and we cannot thank them enough for believing in our mission. To have our organization highlighted in such a visible way is both humbling and inspiring.

Every class taught, every firefighter conference given, every AED donated, and every life safety lesson shared is only possible because of partnerships like these. Thank you, 100 Strong, for helping us share our story and for investing in organizations that are working to make our communities safer and stronger.

We are truly grateful for your support and honored to have been selected as your nonprofit spotlight.

The next Safe & In Charge: Sitter Superstars class is headed to the Prairieville Fire Department!

This FREE, hands-on class is designed for students ages 10-14 who want to build confidence, learn responsibility, and gain the skills needed to stay safe and care for others.
Students will learn:
✅ Home safety & being home alone
✅ Basic first aid skills
✅ Fire safety & emergency planning
✅ How and when to call 911
✅ Choking emergencies and other common babysitting situations
✅ Online safety awareness
✅ Safe decision-making and leadership skills

Whether your child is already babysitting or just beginning to take on more responsibility, Safe & In Charge helps prepare them for real-life situations with confidence.

WOW. Just WOW. 🤩

What an incredible group of young leaders we had this past weekend at Jones Creek Regional Library for our inaugural Safe & In Charge: Little Leaders class! 👏

These students came ready to learn, ask questions, and build the skills needed to stay safe and confident in everyday situations. From learning how to call 911 and basic first aid to making safe choices at home, online, and in their community, they absolutely knocked it out of the park.

More importantly, they showed us what being a leader is all about—responsibility, confidence, kindness, and a willingness to learn. 💪✨

We couldn’t be more proud of this first class of Little Leaders, and we are so excited to continue growing this program and empowering even more young people with life-saving safety skills.

Thank you to Jones Creek Regional Branch Library East Baton Rouge Parish Library for hosting us and to all of the parents who entrusted us with your amazing kiddos for the morning. The future is bright with leaders like these! 🌟

🚨 LIFT 2027 INSTRUCTOR CALL OUT IS NOW OPEN! 🚨

Do you have knowledge, experience, lessons learned, or innovative ideas that can help firefighters and first responders become better tomorrow than they are today?

We're looking for instructors to join us at LIFT 2027, March 1–4, 2027, at L'Auberge Casino & Hotel in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Whether you're a seasoned presenter, a subject matter expert, or someone teaching for the first time, we want to hear from you.

We're seeking both:
🔥 Classroom presentations
🔥 Hands-On Training (HOT) Drills

Topics may include:
✅ Fire Behavior
✅ Leadership & Supervision
✅ Tactical Operations
✅ Health & Safety
✅ Rescue & Special Operations
✅ Instructor Development

LIFT exists to bring firefighters and first responders together through education, networking, and fellowship.
