Next up in our LAFFA State Officer Introductions is our State Vice President representing area IV, Madelyn Fossum!
From just a ways down the bayou, Madelyn Fossum is a recent graduate of Central Lafourche High School, and is going into her seventh year of FFA.
In high school, she was an active member of the National Honor Society, CLHS Beta, 4-H, Girls Varsity Bowling, Terrebonne YHEC, CLHS Yearbook staff, and of course FFA!
She has grown her leadership as she served as State Parliamentarian, Area IV Vice-President, and CL FFA president. She also served multiple roles in 4-H, including assisting in founding the SEWcial club. In FFA, she’s found a love for many CDEs and LDEs including meat ID, poultry judging, land judging, ENR, Creed Speaking, Prepared Public Speaking, and Extemporaneous Speaking. Competing a nationals in several of these events became incredible memories and lessons for her. She also has various SAEs from Ag Education to Diversified Crop Production and Specialty Animal Production.
In her free time, you can find her spending time with friends, singing and playing her guitar, volunteering, mentoring others, gardening, and working on her small engraving business. Whether it’s sharing a laugh with friends or going crawfishing, she’s always looking for fun experiences and new friends to talk to.
She will continue her education at Louisiana State University in Agricultural Leadership and Development, with the plans to go into Ag law or earn her PhD in education.
Madelyn is excited to grow new connections with members and encourage them to follow their heart!
