In high school, she was an active member of the National Honor Society, CLHS Beta, 4-H, Girls Varsity Bowling, Terrebonne YHEC, CLHS Yearbook staff, and of course FFA!

She has grown her leadership as she served as State Parliamentarian, Area IV Vice-President, and CL FFA president. Competing a nationals in several of these events became incredible memories and lessons for her. She also has various SAEs from Ag Education to Diversified Crop Production and Specialty Animal Production.

In her free time, you can find her spending time with friends, singing and playing her guitar, volunteering, mentoring others, gardening, and working on her small engraving business. Whether it’s sharing a laugh with friends or going crawfishing, she’s always looking for fun experiences and new friends to talk to.

She will continue her education at Louisiana State University in Agricultural Leadership and Development, with the plans to go into Ag law or earn her PhD in education.

Madelyn is excited to grow new connections with members and encourage them to follow their heart!

Next up in our LA State Officer Introduction is Orlando Verrett our State Reporter!

Orlando Verrett is from Franklin, Louisiana, and is a proud graduate of Franklin Senior High School. He currently attends Southern University, where he is pursuing a degree in Agricultural Science with a concentration in Agribusiness and hopes to one day become an agricultural educator.

As a member of the Franklin FFA Chapter, Orlando competed in a variety of Career and Leadership Development Events, including Poultry Evaluation, Land Judging, Employment Skills, Extemporaneous Speaking, Turf Grass Management, and Swine Production. Through these experiences, he discovered that some of the greatest lessons in FFA are not learned through trophies or banners, but through building meaningful relationships and connecting with others.

Outside of FFA, Orlando enjoys working out, cutting hair, reading literature, and playing the piano. He credits much of his success to the foundation provided by his faith, the love of his family, and the support of his community. Orlando strives to live by the quote, “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence.”

FFA gave Orlando something he believes every young person deserves: courage. Courage to step outside of his comfort zone, courage to chase ambitious goals, and courage to continue moving forward when faced with setbacks. As the 2026 - 2027 Louisiana FFA State Reporter, Orlando is committed to giving his all while sharing the stories of Louisiana FFA members across the state. He hopes members will remember that greatness is not determined by success alone, but by the willingness to keep going when challenges arise.
