I’m heartbroken to share that Patatas managed to get to his nub the same night his stitches were removed. What resulted was severe self mutilation and after careful consideration the veterinary team recommended humane euthanasia due to the extensive damage he had done to his spinal cord. Further surgery would almost certainly result in paralysis and incontinence of bowel and bladder.
Despite the possibility of him still being able to live as full of a life as some disabled cats can, we don’t believe it’s fair to risk Patatas injuring himself further after seeing the damage he did in one evening.
Patatas was extremely loved during his short time with our rescue. I’m sending immense love and gratitude to his foster family that went above and beyond to provide the best care and ensure this boy knew love. Until we meet again Patatas! 🌈🪽
