POV: Dinner time at L2F….
Horses living out generally have constant access to movement, grazing, and social interaction, so feeding is just another part of their natural routine rather than a high-stakes event. They don’t feel confined or deprived while waiting.

Stalled horses, by contrast, may spend long periods restricted, isolated, and anticipating the next meal. When feeding becomes one of their few sources of stimulation and resources, they can develop heightened anticipation, anxiety, pawing, pacing, kicking, or aggression around feeding time.❤️🐴

A horse that genuinely wants to be with you will usually choose to come to you, rather than consistently requiring you to catch them. It reflects trust, comfort, and a positive association with your presence.

That said, not coming to you doesn’t automatically mean a horse doesn’t want you—horses may avoid being caught because they associate catching with work, discomfort, or simply because they enjoy grazing. The important distinction is whether the horse chooses connection when given the opportunity ❤️🐴
