Playoff football has officially arrived! The Waubonsie Valley Warriors traveled north to pay a visit to the Barrington Broncos in the opening round. The Broncos, one of the hottest teams in the state, on a six-game win streak-sent the warriors home empty handed in a 28-0 Bronco win. Go Broncos Go!

Where do I start? After 52 years of owning Phillips, I have dozens of reasons I still love coming to work. And every so often, one of my favorite clients puts on a private auto show right in the parking lot.
RK from Barrington Hills rolls up in this absolutely smashing 1955 Austin-Healey—the result of years of painstaking restoration.
And I mean painstaking. Factory-correct paint. Correct mirrors. Correct trim. Even the incandescent light bulbs of the 1950s. Nothing overlooked. Nothing substituted. Nothing left to chance.
So naturally, we're circling the car like judges at Pebble Beach. I'm photographing every curve, every piece of chrome, every immaculate detail while RK proudly explains the restoration.
Then Chris looks behind the seats.
“Hey Chief… LOOK AT THIS!”
I look in.
“What the hell, Bob—is that WATER SOFTENER SALT?”
Yep. Years restoring a 1955 Austin-Healey to microscopic, historically correct perfection…
…and apparently the final factory option was 40 pounds of
Morton Salt.
Correct paint.
Correct mirrors.
Correct bulbs.
Period-correct water softener? Still researching that one.
You just can't make this stuff up.
52 years at Phillips. The clothes are great. The customers are better.
