Peter Quince wants to put on a play to celebrate the wedding of Hippolyta and Theseus – a telling of the tragic love story of Pyramus and Thisbe. He gathers a group of rude mechanicals – Bottom the weaver, Snug the joiner, Starveling the tailor, and Snout the tinker – to cast his script. He decides to rehearse one night in the forest so others in town don’t see the show before it is presented. But then Puck wanders into the rehearsal and puts a spell on Bottom so he turns into a half man half donkey.

Will Bottom return to himself in time for the wedding so the actors can put on their play? Come find out this weekend at the final performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Tickets are available at the door. Don’t miss your chance to laugh out loud at this hilarity. The actors have taken pains to be perfect.

Three more chances to follow the lovers and the mechanicals into the forest. And then the shadows will dance off into the fairy sunset. Make your plan to see Midsummer this weekend.

Throughout the run of A Midsummer Night's Dream, we've appreciated seeing some cast members from our 75th anniversary production in the audience. Last weekend, we enjoyed a visit from Chet Lubelczyk, who played Bottom/Pyramus in 1996, and stopped to take a photo with Sean Gardell, the 2026 Bottom/Pyramus.

We hope to see more Barre Players alums this weekend - whether you were in Midsummer or any of our productions of the last 100 or so years.

As the wedding of Theseus and Hippolyta approaches, the veil between the fairy realm and Athens thins in the forest. Titania, the queen of the fairies, and Oberon, the king of the fairies, have had their own encounters with the human couple and linger in the forest until the celebration takes place. One evening, the queen and king meet and argue over who gets custody of a changeling boy. Titania whisks away with her fairies leaving a fuming Oberon. Out of spite, he enlists Puck to find a flower enchanted by Cupid so that Titania will fall in love with some vile thing she sees when she wakes from her rest – an actor that Puck bewitches to turn into half donkey half man.

Come see how this mischief plays out and if the king and queen can find some fairy grace to make music again. And if Bottom (the actor) will become human again in time to make his entrance. The final three performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream begin on Friday.

As Athens celebrates the wedding of Theseus and Hippolyta, two other couples fall in and out of love. Helena pines for Demetrius, who wants to marry Hermia. Though Hermia’s mother approves of this match, she chooses Lysander and runs off with him to the woods. Demetrius follows her. Helena follows him. With the influence of some love potion and magical mischief, Lysander and Demetrius wake from (or in) a dream and choose to pursue Helena through the woods.

Come see how this timeless romantic comedy plays out and if Jack shall have Jill and all shall be well. There are six more performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream this weekend and next. Buy tickets at the door or reserve in advance.
