Our Art for Healing Summer 2026 program calendar is now complete, and registration is officially open for all of our May workshops.

Join us on Saturday, April 11th & 25th, from 10 AM-1 PM for our Sidewalk Chalk Art two-part series at the Art and Spirituality Center. This program invites participants to step outside and explore the vibrant world of chalk art. During the first session, participants will learn basic techniques for working with chalk, such as: drawing, blending, and layering while experimenting with color and composition on outdoor surfaces. During the second session, participants will focus on creating unique small works that build their skill and confidence on foundational chalking techniques. Join us as we experience the fun and relaxation of creating chalk art in the open air. Facilitated by Bee Rivera.

Introducing our newest program: Let's Have a Word Together

Available every first and third Thursday from 1:30-3 PM at the Art and Spirituality Center

Come and discover the depth of meaning in everyday words used as prompts for discussion and writing that can enrich and illuminate seemingly ordinary experiences into healing and nurturing opportunities. Each workshop will focus on one word and how it manifests itself internally in our everyday life, and how it adds or detracts from our emotional, physical, and spiritual wellness. Join us as we find new and enriching meaning in our everyday words. Facilitated by Donnel Lester

Happy March!
This month represents a significant transition from winter to spring, symbolizing rebirth, renewal, and growth.

For several of our staff and volunteers, it's also a time for celebration. Cheers to each of you celebrating your birthdays and anniversaries this month. We are so grateful for their specialized, dedicated, and ongoing support. From the bottom of our hearts, we are beyond thankful for all the meaningful ways you help our programs thrive. Thank you for your compassion in promoting healing through the arts with your passion, innovation, and humankindness. From our Art for Healing program to the Bakersfield Threshold Singers, Art Cart, and Acoustic Remedies, healing is happening in the lives of countless people in our hospitals and our community. Thank you for all the ways you bring hope, healing, and wholeness through your gifts and talents. May your special days echo this transitional season, filling you with rejuvenation and renewal!
