🔴 PERMANENTLY CLOSED FOR INTAKE OCT 2026 🔴
Effective immediately, Charley's is no longer open for intake and will begin the necessary steps to start the closure process.
Over the past 6 years, we have worked tirelessly nearly around the clock to represent bully breeds and save 1,053 pitties in need! (And the select few honorary non-pittie pulls). We can no longer sustain this.
We want to thank each and every foster, volunteer, transporter, networker and donor that has helped support our rescue throughout the years. You have truly helped us become that small but mighty rescue.
We know you'll ask why! And the truth is, this past year was our hardest one yet. Charley's House has always remained the main headquarters with 9 adult dog fosters and the ability to accommodate quick adoption returns. That was unable to happen this year due to our founder's pregnancy, maternity leave and new baby girl. Our team of fosters outside of this was only able to do so much (though they tried HARD) and our intake dropped dramatically resulting in a significant tank in donations and fundraiser support. Throughout all of this, we have tried to remain positive. Even when Meta started hiding our posts from our followers. But it is time for our founder to enjoy her newest baby girl!
For those that don't know, our founder has a blended family of 4 boys plus the newest addition. Her hands (and heart) are full and she is taking the time to shift her focus and pour into her family after sacrificing so much in her personal life for rescue over the past 6 years.
With all of that said, we still have some final things that need to be done in order to finalize our closure by the end of the year.
💲 The main one of those is fundraising to pay off our vet bill. This bill has helped Charley's dogs we've saved throughout the year and must be paid off by December.
🐾 We only have a couple dogs left in rescue and have worked to make plans or push them for adoption. We will not be taking in any new dogs and will only be working to move these dogs out. Please help us share and market these pups to find their new placements.
How Charley's will move forward:
➡️ Once our remaining dogs are placed, we will utilize the Charley's page to help adopter's initiating returns. We will also help other rescues market their adoptable dogs and help share critical dogs in need in our shelters. We have worked hard to build a page with 13,000 followers- we will continue to be a resource to the rescue and shelter community.
➡️ Our email remains open for adopter's who are in need of guidance and assistance in rehoming their Charley's dog. The volunteer team has dropped dramatically and messages outside of email may not receive immediate response.
We want to thank every one of you for the support and will continue to post updates about the closure and answer questions as we can. This was not an easy decision to make and will come with a lot of critical changes.
Please help us finish what we started smoothly and without any debt! Your support during this time will be crucial to a successful closing.
Stay tuned for our upcoming fundraising information and our end of an era Charley's closure celebration party. This may be the end but 1,053 lives is surely something to celebrate. ❤️
