The Reese Project

The Reese Project The Reese Project was created to help bridge the gap between pet owners and life-saving emergency veterinary care.

Our mission is to prevent the unnecessary loss of pets by providing financial assistance for life-saving, emergency veterinary care when treatment is critical and owners have no ability to pay. When a pet's condition is critical and treatment cannot wait, families often face impossible decisions because the high cost of treatment is required immediately, with several offices refusing any life-savi

ng treatment without an upfront deposit of several hundred dollars. Our organization steps in during these urgent moments to provide financial assistance for truly life-threatening emergencies where a pet will surely die without treatment. We do not assist with routine care, preventative services, or non-emergent conditions. Our goal is to focus resources where they matter most: giving pets a fighting chance when every minute counts. The Reese Project was inspired by Reese, a beloved dog whose life could have been saved if life saving treatment was offered prior to payment. His story drives our commitment to make sure other pets don't face the same fate due to financial barriers.

Jake was attacked by a larger dog and had severe infection that needed debridement. We’ve gotten him taken care of, and we’re so grateful that his owner was able to contribute a large portion of the final bill. Jake is doing well and the vet actually was able to remove a lot off of his original estimate that he no longer needed!

LUCY’S STORY:
Lucy’s owner came to us after her vet recommended further scans that they were unable to afford. Her symptoms included weight loss, food and water refusal, low cortisol, and dangerously high sodium levels. After days at the vet, everything they thought was causing it was ruled out. They consulted a specialist who believes this is a neurological issue. To get her diagnosed and treated, she’ll have to go to a specialist, which is estimated to run $10,000 in treatment costs.

Lucy was given IV hydration and is now eating well again, but she still isn’t drinking on her own, and her sodium levels aren’t changing. It’s possible that her brain isn’t telling her she needs fluid, and neurological parasites were also listed as a possible cause. Without treatment as soon as possible, her sodium could be fatal. We need a miracle to get Lucy to a specialist and save her life.

Every cent raised will go toward getting Lucy to a specialist and figuring out a way to help her.

Lucy is only 7 months old. What we originally thought was a partial blockage has turned into days of tests, treatments, and now a referral to a specialist. With GI, blockage, and dehydration alone ruled out, it’s highly likely that there is a neurological problem causing all of this.

Lucy is eating now, but won’t drink water at all. She’s been hydrated with around the clock IV’s, but it hasn’t helped her sodium levels at all. We suspect something in her brain isn’t functioning like it should, but we can’t confirm, or fix it, without getting her to a specialist.

We were told that we should expect around $1,000 per day at the specialist, covering vet fees, hospitalization, medication, diagnosis, and treatment. We’ve already covered $1,069 for the tests, scans, and medications she’s received this week, and we can’t get her to the specialist on our own.

Her family is fighting for her. They’re putting in all the money they have, and we plan to fight for her, too.

If you’re able to donate, even $5 can help make a difference. If you can’t donate, interacting with this video can help us find others who can.

Every single dollar we raise until we hit our goal will be put toward saving Lucy’s life. Help us make it happen🤍🐾

We’ve got a 7 month old pup we’re working with right now, she’s still a mystery but we’re hoping to have answers tomorrow and be able to get some proper case information out for fundraising. Be on the lookout for that post!🐾

Late night post! Donkey goes in for his surgery tomorrow morning! We ended up reaching $330 out of our $532.50 goal, and while there’s still time to hit that goal, it’s a great amount raised for Donkey! He’ll be all cleaned up and on the road to recovery this time tomorrow❤️
