In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we shine a on Ms. Rayneica Thompson✨
Get to know a little about Rayneica and the passion and leadership she brings to the Richmond County community ⤵️
Rayneica Thompson is the Executive Director of Mental Health America of Greater Augusta and has been a dedicated member of the Richmond County Su***de Prevention Coalition since 2019. A passionate leader, storyteller, and advocate, she is committed to strengthening peer support, wellness, and meaningful human connection throughout our community.
Through her work, Rayneica creates spaces where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to prioritize their mental health. Her leadership is rooted in the belief that meaningful connection can change lives – and that every person deserves to be heard before reaching their hardest moments.
For Rayneica, su***de prevention is deeply important because she understands how profoundly isolation, hopelessness, and silence can affect a person’s life. She believes prevention is a shared community responsibility and that meaningful change happens when people and organizations come together to increase awareness, strengthen support systems, and encourage honest conversations that remind people they matter.
She emphasizes that one of the most powerful actions we can take is simply listening – with empathy, validation, and presence – so others know they are not alone in what they’re experiencing. Rayneica is encouraged by the growing acceptance of su***de prevention conversations within the faith community and the increasing opportunities for ministries to engage in prevention training.
Her perspective reminds us that su***de prevention begins with conversation. When we replace silence with compassion and connection, we help create a community where people feel supported, valued, and never alone.
