Or maybe it's actually a car these days. It's a toss-up. While no one likes paying more, inflation is especially painful for low-income families, whose spending is heavily weighted towards necessities such as gas and groceries, which are seeing some of the largest price hikes.
"I skip meals so my kids don't have to...You don't know how humiliating it feels to put food back at the checkout because your card won't cover it...Being poor is expensive - especially at the grocery store...I've never imagined needing food assistance while working full time."

Aubie decided to do his BBFD shopping at the Opelika Kroger store. He hunted for bargains, made some new friends, and pitched in to help behind the counters. And when he left, he made sure to drop his donations in the BBFD barrel at the Kroger store.
