Our UCAN Farmers Cohort 2 visited Walking Bird Farm to learn from our good friend and partner Jen LaMonica, owner of ! 🐦🌱
Jen spoke about the pros and cons of Agro-tourism, ways we can incorporate agro-tourism as a full production farm, how to add "U-Pick" fruits, flowers, and vegg to your farming operation to bring customers to the farm and so much more!
Jen is very passionate about having your buyers know and understand the farm and who is growing their food along with the value of providing education and real life farming experience to the buyer. Connected communities are the strongest and Jen truly lives the sentiment by inviting everyone to see their growing operations.
Thank you, Walking Bird Farm, for everything you do for us at C.R.O.P.S.! Our UCAN Farmers and everyone involved learn something new every time we visit! ♥️ . .
C.R.O.P.S.’s UCAN (Urban Coastal Agriculture Network) Farming Program is a farmer training program and is one of the six components of our Funding Agreements with the CRDA. Through a series of education sessions, hands-on farming activities and farm field trips with the C.R.O.P.S. Team, farmer participants in our program learn farming skills as well as business skills like bookkeeping and marketing to set them up for success as they build their own urban farming business as part of strengthening Atlantic City as a Farm to Fork City. . .
