Atlanta has built a massive surveillance network on the promise that more cameras will help police solve more crimes. But when Atlanta Community Press Collective analyzed years of FBI data, they found that crime clearance rates have not meaningfully increased as the city’s camera network has grown eightfold.

That kind of reporting takes time, work, and skill: finding the records, digging through the data, and asking questions that people in power might rather not answer. This Saturday, AAAF and GYJC team up to spread the word in Cobb County about the County Board of Education majority and so much more on the line in November!

Local school boards have enormous influence on students' lives but are among the most overlooked elections, and most students have no say in who represents them on important issues like:
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Equitable and inclusive education
✊ Student civil rights
🫀 Student well-being and safety
💲 Funding and resource allocation
👨‍💼 Hiring and firing superintendents

This is where change actually begins, talking with neighbors about these issues so we can transform our community and state together.

It’s National Voter Registration Day, which is a pretty great reason to take 30 seconds and make sure you’re ready to vote. Check your registration, find your early voting locations, and confirm your Election Day polling place on the Georgia My Voter Page.

Then make your plan. In Georgia, you’ve got options. You can vote early between October 13 and October 30 or on Election Day, which is Tuesday, November 3. And if you need to vote by mail, you can request your absentee ballot today, all from the Georgia My Voter Page.

Every single voter we've called lives in a Georgia State House district where the election could be decided by a few hundred votes or less. We’re showing up, but we need you with us.

Early voting starts in less than a month, and Election Day is 50 days away. Grab a friend and come make calls with us every Tuesday and Wednesday from 5–7 PM or DM us to get started hosting your own phonebank.

Sometimes it really is just one person talking to another person.

Last month, we met a 23 year old voter on the doors who felt like government had failed him and didn't believe his vote would change anything.

So we talked about what was actually on his ballot and the real power his vote has in Henry County this year. By the time we left, he told us he was going to vote because we showed up and explained why it mattered.

No viral moment. No grand speech. Just a conversation at somebody's front door.

There are people all over Georgia waiting for someone to listen to them and remind them that they have a say here. That's why we're so grateful for everyone spending a few hours of their weekend talking to voters across Georgia.

2,118 doors knocked in Alpharetta during our first Weekend of Action since the statewide runoff on June 16. And we’re just getting started. We’re building the kind of community at GYJC where young people take action together and actually get to know each other along the way.

Come knock some doors with us at 10 AM on Saturday, August 22, meet some new people, and stick around to join us at Waffle House for a chocolate chip waffle or hashbrowns scattered, smothered, and covered afterward.
