Yesterday, Phra Ajarn Maha 𝓓𝓪𝓶 𝓟𝓱𝓸𝓶𝓶𝓪𝓼𝓪𝓷 and organizers went to Stone Mountain to scout several locations for our Meditation for World Peace on Saturday, July 18, from 1 pm- 3 pm. We have decided to gather at the pavilion near the Carillon to set a positive motivation, meditate, and connect. The beautiful sounds of Stone Mountain and the Carillon will be a soothing meditation object for our focus. There is plenty of parking a few yards away from the main lot. After visiting Georgia, Venerable Thubten Damcho shared this reflection following her travels to New Jersey, where she met the great teacher Geshe Thabkhe, who was in Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall, reminding us of impermanence. Her message feels especially meaningful during graduation season and to young people: the past is done, the karma has ripened, and what matters most now is the future we create through our intentions and actions today. Honoring Maha Ajarn Dam Phommassan as one of the 25 Most Influential Asian American Pacific Islander in Georgia. His dedication to peace extended far beyond the temple when he joined the International Walk for Peace, a 2,300-mile pilgrimage from Houston to Washington DC, by Buddhist monks advocating for global unity. Though he suffered a life-altering injury during the walk that resulted in the loss of his leg, his spirit remained unbroken — declaring he would make the same choice again.
