The 2026 Hall County Master Gardener Volunteer Trainees have been working super hard on the garden spaces around the Hall County Ag Services building. Come on out and visit the gardens here. Our competition garden spaces are a mixture of vegetable and ornamentals. Our adoption garden spaces feature natives, ornamentals plus a fruit garden. Get some sunshine, become inspired and learn about different plant varieties. Our address is 734 East Crescent Dr, Gainesville, GA. Once you're done touring the gardens, come on in and grab some free seeds. The Hall County Extension Office is your source for all things plant related. hallmastergardeners.com

Patty Deluca-Kerr is being honored as our HCMG of the Month for May 2026. She contributes to our community in many ways, including answering your questions at the Extension Office and at our Expos. She also contributes in a special way by introducing children at Sugar Hill Elementary to gardening and how food can be grown in a garden.

Hall County Master Gardeners welcome Mary Ann Mall to Emeritus status. She has been a part of HCMG since 2000. Mary Ann set up the very first Expo in April 2003. It was held at the location of the Hall County Farmers Market next to the Extension Office. To get vendors for the first Expo, Mary Ann, along with helpers stuffed bulletins in the mailboxes of nursery vendors. Some of the vendors at that first Expo were Elaine Kelley, Bob Bradbury's honey, and IG Nursery. Mary Ann volunteered at many of the HCMG Expos in the 23 years since that first Expo. We are so grateful for all of Mary Anne’s contributions to HCMGs and our community.

Please join us in celebrating Donnie Watson as our HCMG of the Month for April 2026. Donnie has been a Master Gardener since 2014. He was born and raised on a farm and has never left it, which helps him grow native plants and in planting food plots for wildlife. He is an essential volunteer at our Garden Expos being instrumental in the setup, maintenance, and tear down of the arena. Donnie helps wherever needed, such as repairing any broken carts and putting out Expo signs. Thank you, Donnie, for your service to our organization and our community!

🌿✨ Garden Walk Spotlight: Whimsy, Art, and Pollinators ✨🌿

Stroll down the curving driveway toward the shade garden, spotting whimsical birdhouses along the way. Pause to relax and observe birds and squirrels as they flit among the foliage—an inviting place to unwind and reflect.

Explore a collection of fifty varieties of hostas, accented with hydrangeas, Solomon’s seal, and camellias. Artwork by the owners’ grandchildren and a recent sculpture add creative flair. Continue past the parking pad, and the front of the house, and cottage garden to view a PowerPoint presentation about bees and their vital role in the environment. Bees are kept on the grounds but remain a safe distance from visitor paths. Discover the propagation greenhouse, then cross the Japanese garden bridge to the vibrant cutting garden. Conclude the tour by golf cart ride or by retracing to your steps.

🌿✨ Garden Walk Spotlight: Partnership Yields Beautiful Results✨🌿

Wilshire Trails Gardens, near the Wilshire Road pavilion and Pearl Nix Parkway parking lot, are managed by Gainesville Parks and Recreation, with Hall County Master Gardeners (HCMG) overseeing since 2002. Established in 1983 after the Trail's 1982 completion, the gardens feature native and ornamental plants that attract pollinators. A pollinator garden was added in 2009, leading to annual butterfly releases, later moved due to popularity. Since 2024, the gardens include educational signage and public training events such as the 'Southeast Bumble Bee Atlas' workshop planned for 2026. The four-section garden offers photo opportunities and year-round color. Efforts continue to remove invasive species and expand native plantings. HCMG has contributed over 2,110 hours to the gardens since 2014.
