You wouldn’t knowingly sit in a chair with a broken leg. Give yourself that same care before getting comfortable with someone.

How do they respond when you say no?
Do they celebrate your growth?
Can you speak honestly without being belittled?

Take your time. Trust grows through what people consistently show you.

And if you’ve already fallen, give yourself grace. Trusting someone doesn’t make you foolish. You can choose differently with what you know today.

This one is personal. 💙🩺

Help me celebrate Bre! She has completed nursing school, and I could not be prouder.

Bre, I’ve watched you keep going even when the path didn’t look the way you imagined. You stayed dedicated. You stayed determined. And now look at you—living the dream you worked so hard for.

When I say “I Am the Pivot,” this is what I mean. You don’t have to wait for the path to be perfect to keep becoming. You can adjust, keep moving, and still arrive at a moment you once prayed for.

You are the third generation of your family to enter the medical field. That is legacy. And the beautiful part is that you get to carry it forward in your own way.

At She. Her. Me., I often talk about becoming the woman you were meant to be. Bre, you are doing that in real time. Your journey may not have been a straight line, but every step brought you here in divine timing.

Happy Sugarcane Festival Weekend, New Iberia family! 🌿

The Louisiana Sugar Cane Festival began in New Iberia in 1937 to celebrate the coming harvest. That history also calls us to remember the enslaved people whose forced labor helped build Louisiana’s sugar industry.

We come together for the music, the food, the parades, and the joy of seeing familiar faces. We celebrate the harvest and the families whose work has sustained this community for generations.

But when I look at the cane fields, I also think of our ancestors. Before there was a festival, enslaved people were forced to plant, cut, and process sugarcane. Their labor helped build an industry, while their own names and stories were too often left out of its telling.

So this weekend, I’m holding both joy and remembrance. I honor the ancestors who endured, the generations who kept going, and the people who work these fields today. May we celebrate our hometown with gratitude, tell its history truthfully, and make sure our children know whose shoulders we stand on.
