Rebuilding Together Henry County

10/03/2026

For our older neighbors like Edward, keeping up with home repairs as you age can be challenging.

A combat veteran, Edward needed critical but simple repairs to his home to make it safer and more comfortable for everyday living.

With a team of volunteers Rebuilding Together: restored water access to the bathroom, installed grab bars to reduce fall risk and installed a handrail at the entrance to the home.

Simple fixes like these make the home liveable for Edward, and one more affordable home is preserved.

For the same cost as building 1 new home, Rebuilding Together can fix 18.

If your dishes were dirty would you just break them? Of course not. So why do we let perfectly good homes go into disrepair?

Our country’s approach to affordable housing isn’t getting us anywhere. We can’t build our way out of it if we
let the affordable homes we already have quietly disappear from our communities.

But for the same cost as building 1 new home, Rebuilding Together can fix 18.

Instead of replacing homes, we repair them, making them safer, more accessible, and more affordable to maintain for veterans, older adults, people with disabilities and families with young children.

Every roof patched helps keep a family safely housed. Every accessible ramp helps a neighbor live independently. Every repaired home safeguards affordable housing that might otherwise disappear forever.

We're still smiling about our 500th ramp installation. Our homeowner wasn't just waiting for a ramp; he was waiting to go home. Welcome Home!

Thanks for covering this milestone event.

Two months away from home takes a toll. Aaron Brown, who once volunteered for Rebuilding Together Henry County, got emotional watching strangers build the 500th wheelchair ramp that would finally let him return: https://www.wqad.com/article/news/community/rebuilding-together-henry-county-builds-its-500th-wheelchair-ramp-for-cleveland-resident/526-0f06a31b-7bdd-4efc-b45f-8b7781b1bf4f?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_WQAD
