We achieve this by administering the funds to reflect the intent of donors who wish to address the significant needs of Ashtabula County.

The Ashtabula Foundation Youth Philanthropy Grant Cycle is now open! Applications are due by December 1, 2026. The mission of our student program is to assist in funding projects and programs in the Ashtabula County community that we believe will most directly benefit the people in our area. To qualify for a grant, an organization is required to have a 501(C)(3) determination from the Internal Revenue Service and serve the citizens of Ashtabula County. Applications can be obtained through the Ashtabula Foundation website, under Youth Philanthropy at www.ashtabulafoundation.org, and should be submitted directly to the High School Youth Philanthropy Advisor. Applications are limited to two requests to any High School per school year.

FALL HAS ARRIVED, and 2026 Grant Opportunities are still available! The Ashtabula Foundation is accepting grant applications for 2026 through October 30, 2026. Local 501 c3 nonprofit organizations are encouraged to apply for funding that helps strengthen and enrich Ashtabula County.

Requests of $5,000 or less are accepted across all eligible grant categories, and grant requests for $3,000 or less are accepted for Youth Enrichment opportunities that support ongoing programs for Ashtabula County youth ages 6–18 that encourage personal development, leadership, educational interests, career exploration, and general well-being.

The Ashtabula Foundation is honored to announce a $3 million gift from the estate of Vera A. Plain, a New Lyme, Ohio native born in 1923. The gift (named the Carl & Vera Plain Fund) is designated to the Ashtabula Foundation's Rising Scholars Endowment Fund in support of Kent State University Ashtabula Rising Scholars Program.

Exciting News from the Hubbard House Underground Railroad Museum!

We are honored to announce that the Hubbard House Underground Railroad Museum has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Ashtabula Foundation to support our historic chimney restoration project.

This investment will help preserve an important part of our community’s history, ensuring that future generations can continue to learn about the courage, resilience, and legacy of the Underground Railroad.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Ashtabula Foundation Board of Directors, Grant Committee, and staff for believing in our mission and investing in the preservation of this historic landmark.

🎉 Congratulations to our six newest grant recipients! The Ashtabula Foundation is proud to announce $85,000 in grants supporting Arts, Culture, Historical, Education, Recreation, and Conservation initiatives across Ashtabula County.

We are pleased to congratulate Ashtabula Arts Center, Hubbard House Underground Railroad Museum, After School Discovery, Junior Achievement, Gateway Outdoor Learning Center, and Dr. Doolittle’s House Wildlife Rehab Center for the meaningful work they do to enrich, educate, inspire, and protect our community.

Did you know... last year in Ashtabula County, Legal Aid hosted 14 legal advice clinics and closed 407 legal cases for Ashtabula County residents. We're proud to serve, be a partner to others, & make a local impact.

The Ashtabula Foundation celebrated its Youth Philanthropy students yesterday morning at the annual recognition luncheon held at Sheldon Calvary Camp in North Kingsville! 🎉

This year, 176 students from high schools across the county came together to make a real difference—awarding nearly $50,000 in grant funding to 33 nonprofit organizations throughout Ashtabula County.

Through their thoughtful giving and commitment to service, these students are helping meet critical community needs while gaining a deeper understanding of philanthropy and leadership. Their dedication is creating a lasting impact—both now and for the future. 💙

Special thanks to Keynote Speaker, Charles "Kip" Clarke, for his motivational message of finding one's own purpose through philanthropy and the presentations of student speakers, Isabella Limestoll of Pymatuning Valley High School and Janessa Kosik of A-Tech Career & Technical Center.

Today, the Lakeside High School Youth Philanthropy Student Board proudly awarded $5,000 in grant funding to five nonprofit organizations serving Ashtabula County during a special grant presentation ceremony held at the school.

Sponsored by the Ashtabula Foundation, this meaningful program empowers students to make a lasting difference in their community. Congratulations to this year’s grant recipients: Confidence Closet, Lighthouse Harvest Foundation, After School Discovery, Adam's Angels, and the Lakeside Society for Performing Arts.

A heartfelt thank you to the nine dedicated student board members and their advisor, Ms. Sandy Clough, for their thoughtful leadership and commitment to philanthropy. We also thank the recipient organizations for their inspiring work and continued service to the Ashtabula County community. 💙
