The Ashtabula Foundation is honored to announce a $3 million gift from the estate of Vera A. Plain, a New Lyme, Ohio native born in 1923. The gift (named the Carl & Vera Plain Fund) is designated to the Ashtabula Foundation's Rising Scholars Endowment Fund in support of Kent State University Ashtabula Rising Scholars Program.

Exciting News from the Hubbard House Underground Railroad Museum!

We are honored to announce that the Hubbard House Underground Railroad Museum has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Ashtabula Foundation to support our historic chimney restoration project.

This investment will help preserve an important part of our community’s history, ensuring that future generations can continue to learn about the courage, resilience, and legacy of the Underground Railroad.

🎉 Congratulations to our six newest grant recipients! The Ashtabula Foundation is proud to announce $85,000 in grants supporting Arts, Culture, Historical, Education, Recreation, and Conservation initiatives across Ashtabula County.

We are pleased to congratulate Ashtabula Arts Center, Hubbard House Underground Railroad Museum, After School Discovery, Junior Achievement, Gateway Outdoor Learning Center, and Dr. Doolittle’s House Wildlife Rehab Center for the meaningful work they do to enrich, educate, inspire, and protect our community.

Thank you for helping make Ashtabula County a stronger, more vibrant place to live, learn, explore, and grow. We can’t wait to see the impact of these projects!

Did you know... last year in Ashtabula County, Legal Aid hosted 14 legal advice clinics and closed 407 legal cases for Ashtabula County residents. We're proud to serve, be a partner to others, & make a local impact.

The Ashtabula Foundation celebrated its Youth Philanthropy students yesterday morning at the annual recognition luncheon held at Sheldon Calvary Camp in North Kingsville! 🎉

This year, 176 students from high schools across the county came together to make a real difference—awarding nearly $50,000 in grant funding to 33 nonprofit organizations throughout Ashtabula County.

Through their thoughtful giving and commitment to service, these students are helping meet critical community needs while gaining a deeper understanding of philanthropy and leadership. Their dedication is creating a lasting impact—both now and for the future. 💙

Special thanks to Keynote Speaker, Charles "Kip" Clarke, for his motivational message of finding one's own purpose through philanthropy and the presentations of student speakers, Isabella Limestoll of Pymatuning Valley High School and Janessa Kosik of A-Tech Career & Technical Center.
