On the morning of March 31, 2025, a mother goes to wake her son for school and finds his room empty. He is 21 years old, autistic, and vulnerable, and his routine is something he never breaks. But that morning, he is gone without a trace. As a widespread search begins and days pass with no answers,....

Jonathan’s mom, Ann, wrote this beautiful song for him and it’s finally available to listen to. Here is what she said about the song: “Every day I think of Jonathan and try to come up with ways to tell his story. I’m not as verbally articulate as my husband, Thao, or my daughter, Irene, but I have written poetry in the past. It occurred to me that maybe I could write a song. I started writing the lyrics and after a few days of polishing, submitted the song online to Demomysong for publishing. I really hope the song reaches Jonathan and whoever is holding on to him. Jonathan needs to be back where he belongs.”

Holidays are special because we share our love and appreciation to each other, often manifested as gifts, to make them feel joy, wanted, seen and worthy. These core memories sustain us through the years, especially in challenging times.

Whenever we asked Jonathan what gifts he wanted for Christmas, he would always say, “I am grateful for what I have…” Then he would suggest to give them to mom, Tweety or Little I.

We miss Jonathan; we miss seeing his smiles and hearing corny jokes, laughter when he tickles the momma. We miss giving him joy, hugs and love. We miss knowing if he is safe, warm (he detests being cold), and getting enough turkey and ham to eat.

Christmas reminds us that our life and relationships aren’t about us but others and our community. In giving of ourselves, we become the best version of ourselves. But we are imperfect beings, and there are moments in our life when we can’t help ourselves and need to let others lift us up from those dark times. For us, this is reason for the season - Jesus is the gift, divine intervention to save and show us how to love.

You are our Christmas presents, divine interventions and miracles this year. We wish you and your family a blessed holyday, filled with all the love, laughter and joy your heart can hold.

PS:

To those who are with Jonathan, please let him go to mass. It brings him peace and comfort. He also watches mass at home during the week. Thank you 🙏
