Happy !

Today we honor the legacy of the last enslaved African Americans in Texas who were finally informed of their freedom, some two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. It was those people, and the generations of Texans who came after them, who made the bold declaration to celebrate this day, marking a reality we know far too well in this country: freedom may be delayed, but it will never be denied.

Though our fight for freedom sadly continues, today we pause to celebrate and embrace the joy of our ancestors who believed in the possibilities of a more promising tomorrow. And in that joy, we remain anchored, steadfast in our pursuit of true freedom and justice for all.

Join the Hot Springs Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the UMBC Body & Soul Ministry for HEALTH FEST 2026 — our 1st Annual Community Health Fair!

📅 Saturday, May 30, 2026
⏰ 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Union Missionary Baptist Church
219 Gulpha Street
Hot Springs AR

This FREE community event will feature health vendors of all varieties, community resources, the local fire department, and a food truck with great food available for purchase. There will truly be something for everybody!

Rain or shine, we hope to see YOU there!

We will also be supporting the KATV Cereal Drive. We ask everyone to bring a box of cereal to help support children in our community this summer. If you are unable to purchase a box of cereal, a QR code will be available for monetary donations because no child should go hungry for breakfast.

Let’s come together to educate, empower, and uplift our community through health, wellness, and service. ❤️

In collaboration with Union Missionary Baptist Church's Body & Soul Health Ministry, this impactful event is designed to educate, empower, and uplift our community through physical and mental health awareness, resources, screenings, and wellness education.

Whether you are looking to learn more about your health, connect with local resources, or simply take a step toward a healthier lifestyle, this event is for YOU. Bring your family, invite your friends, and come experience a day focused on total wellness of the mind, body, and spirit.

We are also calling on vendors and community partners who are passionate about serving and educating others. This is an opportunity to connect directly with the community and make a lasting impact.

Although this is our 1st Annual HealthFest, last year's HealthFest welcomed over 30 vendors and an incredible community turnout, and we are expecting an even greater experience this year.

HPV AWARENESS MONTH: KNOW YOUR STATUS. PROTECT YOUR FUTURE.

The Hot Springs Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is committed to educating and empowering our community through health awareness.

HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection, and many people don’t even know they have it. Yet, it is responsible for nearly all cases of cervical cancer and is linked to several other cancers affecting both women and men.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
• HPV often has no symptoms
• Routine screenings can detect early changes
• Vaccination can prevent the most harmful strains

PROTECT YOURSELF:
• Schedule your Pap smear
• Talk to your provider about the HPV vaccine
• Stay informed and share the knowledge
