• Established in 1932
• Formed to establish a separate union for the Operating Engineers in Westchester County.
• Bill Hogan, Financial Secretary of Local Union No. 3, was instrumental in the formation of the Operating Engineers Union and IBEW Local Union No. 3.
• Tom Brooks first President of the Westchester Mechanics.
• The Westchester Mechanics successfully founded I.U.O.E. Local Union No.
137 on May 3, 1933 and elected Frank “Count” McSpedon president.
• In 1933 Emile Preiss became the first Business manager of IBEW Local Union No. 3 after the International took over the union through trusteeship and Harry Broach, 3rd District Vice President banned clubs to instate the system of a business manager. Within less than a year Business Manager Preiss resigned do to health reasons and the executive Board elected Harry Van Arsdale Jr. as the new Business Manager who’s father Harry Van Arsdale was a member of the Westchester Mechanics under Bill Hogan.
• Business Manager Harry Van Arsdale Jr. reinstated clubs of Local Union No. 3 and under the leadership of Business Representative Local Union No. 3 Howard McSpedon and Financial Secretary Local Union No. 3 Bill Hogan the Westchester Mechanics were accepted as a Local 3 affiliated club in 1933.
• Westchester Mechanics Annual Outing and Field Day and Westchester Mechanics hosts the Richie Caron Memorial Softball Tournament at the Outing and Field Day.
• The Westchester Mechanics Association are a benevolent and fraternal organization who over the years have assisted many Local Union No. 3 members in need.
• To become a member you must attend three meetings consecutively but if you are an apprentice you become a member at your second meeting during the months of July & August.
• Meetings are held the 1st Thursday of the month and held throughout the summer but there is no meeting in January. The meetings are held at Samuel Young Building, American Legion Post 620, 1531 Ericson Place, Bronx, NY 10461
