You will have gloves on in the first ten minutes.

The Construction Trades Career Fair is not a table of pamphlets. It is welding, masonry, framing, pipefitting, electrical, ironwork, sheet metal and heavy equipment, run by journeymen and apprentices from the locals.

Then ask the question that matters: what does it pay, and when can I start.

Wisconsin wrote the first apprenticeship law in America. In 1911.

Every registered apprenticeship in the country traces back to an idea that started here, and 115 years later this state is still setting records: 18,524 registered apprentices, a fourth straight record, and 11,344 high schoolers already in youth apprenticeship.

There is room on the roster. You can start the same way on October 14.

From the archive: a 1938 charter for the Building and Construction Trades Council of Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Dated August 23, 1938, the charter was granted by the Building and Construction Trades Department of the American Federation of Labor. It authorized a local Building and Construction Trades Council with jurisdiction in the City of Green Bay and the surrounding vicinity.

The document placed the Council under the Department’s constitution, laws, rules and regulations while recognizing its rights, privileges and autonomy. Complete with signatures and an official seal, it offers a tangible look at Green Bay’s building trades history.
