There's still time to double your impact! Right now, your donations are being matched up to $75,000 thanks to the Harold & Kay Peplau Family Fund and an anonymous donor.

In Washtenaw County, 1 in 7 neighbors experience food insecurity. At Food Gatherers, we believe no one should go hungry. That's why we provide healthy food to 140 food pantries and meal programs in Washtenaw County, so everyone gets the nutrition they need to thrive.

Thanks to the match, your gift provides TWICE as many meals. Donate today at www.foodgatherers.org/springmatch

Today is National Learn About Composting Day! At Food Gatherers, we partner with My Green Michigan to eliminate waste by composting food that can't be consumed. That waste becomes high-quality soil to nourish local gardens, farms, and landscapes.

By partnering with My Green Michigan, we're helping to:

🌱Fight climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions at the landfill
🌱Improve public health by promoting soil and plant health and water quality
🌱Reduce pollution by minimizing the need for chemical fertilizers
🌱Divert food from landfills
🌱Generate local revenue and new jobs

Thank you to Michigan Medicine's Human Resources team for supporting the fight against hunger! We were joined by 22 of their employees who saved more than 2,700 lbs of fresh produce. Without our food rescue program, food like this produce would end up in a landfill.

We're so grateful for our wonderful volunteers and retail partners who help us save tons of food on a daily basis.

This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Oxford Bank – a bank built on community values and a staunch supporter of the fight against hunger here in Washtenaw County.

As part of their commitment, Oxford Bank is a sponsor of our largest annual fundraiser Rockin’ for the Hungry, a 5-day radiothon presented by Food Gatherers, ann arbor's 107one, and Kroger to rally the community to help raise meals to fight hunger.

During their Power Hour, Oxford Bank generously matches donations up to $10,000 so that each financial gift the community makes provides twice as many meals. Why do they do it?

“A large gap exists in our community between those who have more than enough and those who are struggling to make ends meet and keep food on the table,” expresses Dave Lamb, Oxford Bank’s Chief Executive Officer. “As a community bank, we care deeply about people and won’t stand by while neighbors of ours are going hungry.”

As a member of our board of directors, Dave Lamb also shares his professional expertise to help ensure that Food Gatherers is well-positioned to meet the need.

“We can’t address any other needs in the community without addressing food insecurity,” Dave shares. Thank you, Oxford Bank, for being a true champion of hunger relief in Washtenaw County.
