Established in 1945 by the late hula master Helen Kekua Waiau, Hālau Palaihiwa O Kaipuwai continues to sustain a vast legacy of Kaua’i Hula traditions. Under the direction of kumu hula Kēhaulani Kekua, the hālau provides classes and formal training in chant, hula kahiko, hula ‘auana, and its multiple associated art forms.
This two-part series offers an inclusive introductory experience to participants, including an overview of the featured composer and mele, as well as, instruction on fundamentals, style and choreography.
No prior experience necessary. All levels are welcome.
