Several months ago I was interviewed by a reporter of the Norwegian "Healsemagasinet" about migraine. The reporter asked a ton of questions, all communication by email, and then the article published in March. I was asked to wait for 2 months before sharing the original or the English translation, and I was told that May 13th I can post it.

April 14, 2018:
“Please bear with me because this will be a bit long. I just wanted to give an update as it’s been a couple months. So I started protocol in December slowly working my way through the learning curve. It took me a while but by February I was about 75% there as far as following things to a tee and getting to baseline. At first it seemed like enough. I had dramatically reduced how much I was taking sumatriptan (3-4, sometimes 5 times a week just to get through it to about 2 times a week). It got to the point though that the bad effects of the sumatriptan started to get worse and worse the less I took it. Which pushed me to take the final step and truly get to baseline and get off of that poison. I knew that meant I had to finally give up my tea and start really tracking, measuring macros and K and Na. Giving up snacking. No cheat meals. Etc. all the small things I was doing wrong were adding up.
I have officially been at baseline for about 10 days now, and guess what? I have not had to take my sumatriptan once. That is the longest in my migraine life (11 years of taking it) that I have gone without it. I’m still tweaking my K:Na ratio to find what’s best for me but I’ve been able to get rid of the onset of a migraine so far just through the salt test. I also wanted to note that I was at Mayo in November begging them to listen to me that I had what I knew was aura 24 hours before the onset of a migraine and ringing in my ears to which my doctors replied that I was basically ridiculous for thinking that any of this could be “true” aura since it wasn’t minutes before a migraine. They were about to send me to an auditory specialist and an occipital neurologist when I found the protocol. And guess what?
As soon as I got myself balanced and to baseline my auras and ringing started to disappear. I am deeply humbled and so grateful to Angela, Kristin, Terri and everyone in this group. I feel a moral obligation to pass the book and group along whenever anyone tells me they or someone they know suffers (I did this when my dental hygienist told me her best friend has migraines this week). I’m sorry this was so long but I’m just beyond thankful to you guys.”

Dislike the Taste of Meat? It Might Be Zinc Deficiency!

Many people responded to my "Vegan Lie" post very supportively on LinkedIn and X, which I found interesting, given the hostility on FB...

Many doctors and medical professionals responded and one suggested the following:
"An interesting clinical correlation that you might like is that the dislike for the taste of meat correlates directly with zinc deficiency."
Since I have never heard this before, I decided to double check and I found the following amazing information:
"Zinc deficiency leads to impaired taste and smell. Zinc is essential for taste and smell function via enzymes like carbonic anhydrase VI in saliva. When zinc is low, people can develop, reduced taste sensitivity, distorted taste, and foods tasting bland, metallic, or “off”."
There is clinical evidence that:
--Zinc deficiency can alter perception of meat flavor.
--Some patients report reduced enjoyment of protein-rich foods.
--Zinc repletion can restore normal taste in deficient individuals.

There is a directional relationship:
--Low zinc → impaired taste → reduced appetite for nutrient-dense foods (including meat)
--Low zinc → reduced stomach acid → poorer protein digestion → meat feels unappealing
--Plant diets high in phytates → lower zinc absorption → negative zinc feedback loop.

Zinc deficiency is also linked to reduced appetite, impaired immune function, and altered neurotransmission.

I am glad this article was able to get published! A rare find when something using the carnivore diet publishes and it publishes the truth! A paper like this is a gem.

Fibromyalgia in remission from the Stanton Migraine Protocol:
“Dear Angela, I have written this before, but I feel I must repeat it. I spoke with my daughter today, who is studying in Heidelberg, and asked how her fibromyalgia symptoms are. We haven’t talked about them for a while. She told me that she can go weeks without any symptoms at all, and then occasionally she feels some mild symptoms, followed again by weeks of being completely symptom-free. It’s incredible!

She used to have all the symptoms—pain, brain fog, vision disturbances, and fatigue. We received no help from doctors, so in desperation I eventually asked you, Angela, for advice and learned that the protocol could also work for fibromyalgia. Let me add B3 supplements to the article I posted yesterday about the hazards associated with supplementing glutathione and taurine!
Supplementing B3 (nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN), nicotinamide riboside (NR) and nicotinamide (NAM)) is quite popular. Most people supplement it. I have never been a fan of supplementing B3 (or vitamin E, B6, and some other supplements).

The biggest hazard associated with unnecessary B3 supplementing is that it reduces the effectiveness of chemo against cancer, thereby supporting cancer growth!
