Hello, I'm Tux. I've had a difficult life. I was born into an outdoor feral colony in Emporia in 2020. The caretaker noticed that my back leg was badly injured and required medical care when I was just a kitten. She caught me and contacted FHPR for help. Then came the bad news: my doctor stated that I was going to lose my leg, and on top of that, I was FIV positive. My new home would be the FIV room at Forever Home Pet Rescue, where I would be safe from predators.

About 10 days ago, during the morning feedings, we found Tux unable to move. He accepted help, knowing that he was in trouble, even though he detests being touched. The exam and X-rays showed that there were no broken bones, but there was swelling. He spent one night and came home the next day to rest. He wasn't eating or drinking, which was our first obstacle. It took about 3 days and several varieties of food for him to eat on his own. On day 4, he sat up on his front legs. Today, he began drinking water on his own. There is progress every day, although the one back leg is not showing much promise. He does have a stubborn streak, so time will tell. We'll keep you posted. 🙏

Please keep an eye out for this old guy.
