Today 9 riders on 8 bikes rode to Washington Kansas to visit the Horse Soldier Monument and 9-11 Memorial there. It was 283 miles round trip and over 100 degrees when we got back. But we will NEVER FORGET 9-11. 25 years this year! Did you know the commander of the first Special Forces Team into Afghanistan was from Kansas? Watch the movie “12 Strong” and go visit!

Rest in peace, Mike Hass.
Special thanks to the Emporia LEO for blocking traffic in that high traffic area and for the EFD for having the ambulance there, handing out water to the riders as they were fueling up, it was a HOT one and it was much appreciated.
May your friends and family feel the love of all that supported his last ride home.

Remembering Michael Haas
It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the unexpected passing of Michael Haas, a valued member of our community who dedicated his life to serving others.
Michael was a Volunteer Firefighter, EMT, Public Works employee, and Former Peace Officer. Through each of these roles, he gave his time, his service, and his dedication to helping protect and care for the people in our community.
His loss is deeply felt by his family, friends, fellow first responders, coworkers, and the many members of our community who had the privilege of knowing him.
Our deepest condolences go out to Michael’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. Please keep them, along with our Fire/EMS family and all those who worked alongside him, in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for your service, your dedication, and the lives you touched along the way. You will not be forgotten.
Rest in peace, Mike.
Michael Haas, a member of Arden H. McKee Post 128 in Sterling, Kan., and a member of the Legacy Run’s road guard, died on Tuesday August 25th, as a result of injuries he sustained while in motorcycle accident during the ride’s morning leg to Keokuk.
The Bentley Fire Department went to Iowa to bring his cremains home and all along the way many different groups of riders escorted, there were some riders that joined in Bentley and escorted to Iowa and back to KS. They posted an itinerary of where and when they planned to stop, as soon as Clay Childs knew they were stopping in Emporia he started making calls to make sure they had a honorable stop. I think there were no less than 40 riders that stopped and several others that joined up in Emporia, I saw 2 tags from OK in the group jumping in for the last leg, 2 of the ALR from post 5 also joined in. Firefighters lined many of the overpasses in KS along the route in his honor. Photos up to and the video of the riders arriving.
