Last October, the Aloha Community Library started a space up front for sharing food after two local food pantries shut down last year.

It sees 200-300 visitors a month!

We’re celebrating the Share Space’s first birthday with a food drive to boost their donations for the fall season!

Donate, spread the word, and stay tuned for updates on socials about how the community is joining in!

We’ve already had people telling me they’ve brought donations to the library’s donation box today.

A big thank you to all the community partners who are helping spread the word and be drop off locations around Aloha!

Our next Page Turners Book Club selection is Bad Cree by Jessica Johns!

When Mackenzie’s dreams begin spilling into her waking life, she returns home to her Cree family hoping they can understand what is haunting her. This is a patiently paced novel (with some horror and thriller elements) about drawing strength from kinship and finding the resolve to confront malevolent forces.

Sharon Gan of Heart Strings Mandarin will be back at the library from 10:30-11am on Tuesday, 10/13, for our next Music & Movement in Mandarin!

Zero prior Mandarin language experience is needed – just bring your little ones for a joyful, interactive learning experience, and together we'll sing, move, play instruments, and tell stories in Mandarin Chinese.

This program is recommended for ages 5 and under with family. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Join us here at the library from 11am-12pm on Saturday, 10/17, to hear from historian Sig Unander about one of the greatest natural disasters to hit the Pacific Northwest: the deadly cyclone that devastated the region in October of 1962!

The storm left in its wake widespread destruction, a long and costly recovery, memorable stories of survival and resilience, and important lessons for the future.

• The Shameless Romance Book Club will meet in person on Tuesday 10/6 to discuss The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling.
• The Page Turners Book Club will meet online on Wednesday 10/7 and in person on Thursday 10/8 to discuss Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt.

We're increasing the technology help available at the Aloha Community Library!

You can now drop in between noon and 5pm on Thursdays for one-on-one assistance from a friendly, knowledgeable Digital Navigator who will help you find answers to your questions about your mobile devices, personal computer, websites, getting started with tech, and more. If there’s a specific device you’re working on, please bring it with you!

The Digital Navigator Program (DNP) is a free service made possible by a partnership between Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS) and American Connections Corps (ACC). The DNP is funded in part by American Connections Corps, an AmeriCorps program dedicated to advancing economic prosperity by bridging the digital divide.

The Aloha Community Library also offers Drop-In Tech Help with library staff on Tuesdays from 10:30am-12pm. Stop by with your questions!
