🚨 A VERY IMPORTANT REMINDER ABOUT OUR FARM, OUR FAMILY & PRIVATE PROPERTY 🚨
Apparently this needs to be said clearly.
Rooted In Love Sanctuary is NOT a public park, an open-admission animal shelter, a petting zoo, or government property. This is our HOME. This is our FAMILY’S PRIVATE PROPERTY.
Yes, we operate a nonprofit animal rescue and sanctuary here. Yes, we share the animals we love and care for with our community.
Yes, we put an enormous amount of our own time, money, energy, work, emotion, and love into rescuing animals that need somewhere.
None of that gives the public unrestricted access to our property.
It is honestly difficult to understand why anyone would believe that because someone rescues animals, strangers should automatically be entitled to walk onto their farm, wander their property, visit whenever they choose, or demand access to see the animals.
That is not how this works.
Our first responsibility is SAFETY.
Safety for the animals.
Safety for our volunteers.
Safety for our family.
And most importantly, safety for the young children who LIVE here, play outside here, ride bikes here, run through the yard here and deserve to feel completely secure at their own home.
We will NEVER sacrifice that safety simply because someone believes supporting or following a rescue page gives them some special privilege to enter our property.
It doesn’t.
And frankly, when someone becomes angry, insulting or suspicious because they are told they cannot freely enter someone else’s private property, that reaction only reinforces exactly why those boundaries are necessary.
Comments such as, “There must be something strange about them if they won’t let people on their farm,” are absurd.
There is nothing strange about protecting your children.
There is nothing strange about protecting rescued animals.
There is nothing strange about having gates, rules and boundaries.
There is nothing strange about wanting peace and privacy at your own home.
What WOULD be strange is allowing unknown people unrestricted access to a private residence where children and animals live simply because those people demand it.
We also want to address something very directly following some recent comments made after our page was tagged.
The individuals who chose to make disrespectful, accusatory or inappropriate statements about our family, our property or the way we protect our sanctuary will be removed and blocked from both our page and our group.
That is not being dramatic. That is protecting the environment we have worked extremely hard to build.
If someone including another local farm or organization believes they are entitled to criticize us because we will not provide unrestricted access to our private home and property, then clearly our values and expectations regarding safety, privacy and respect are not aligned.
We have no obligation to provide a platform to people who are openly disrespectful toward our family or our organization.
And quite frankly, anyone throwing a tantrum because they cannot gain access to someone else’s private property is demonstrating exactly why they should not be given access to it.
We are incredibly proud of what happens here. Animals have been rescued, loved, cared for and given permanent sanctuary here. We have gone out ourselves to bring animals to safety. We spend countless hours every single day caring for them.
We are also working very hard to expand the ways our sanctuary can safely connect with the community through organized events, educational opportunities, programs and scheduled experiences.
That is how responsible access happens.
Scheduled. Organized. Supervised. Safe.
Not by strangers showing up, demanding access, or deciding they are entitled to enter because they follow our page, belong to our group, live nearby, operate another farm, or know someone who knows us.
We love sharing our mission with this community. We appreciate the people who support, donate, volunteer, attend our events, follow the animals and genuinely care about the work being done here.
But supporting our mission also means respecting our boundaries.
❤️ Our sanctuary may serve the community. Our property is still our home.
Access to our private property is a privilege granted by us it is never a public right.
And that boundary is not up for debate.
