🎨 Exploring Art, Culture, and New Perspectives at the MFA!

As part of the IYA Summer Program, Brazilian Worker Center youth had the opportunity to visit the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA) for a day of cultural learning and exploration.

During the visit, participants explored exhibitions, discovered different forms of artistic expression, and connected with art and culture beyond the classroom.

Experiences like this are an important part of the IYA Summer Program, creating opportunities for young people to learn, explore new perspectives, and engage with the cultural resources available in our community.

We are proud to provide experiences that inspire curiosity, learning, and personal growth.

Yesterday was a historic day for immigrant communities across Massachusetts.
Governor Maura Healey has officially signed the Protect Act into law.

This landmark legislation strengthens due process, establishes clear statewide standards for interactions between local authorities and federal immigration enforcement, and helps keep immigration enforcement out of sensitive locations without a judicial warrant.

This achievement was made possible through the leadership of the Black & Latino Legislative Caucus, the dedication of the Protect Act Coalition, and the countless advocates and community members who raised their voices throughout this effort.
The Brazilian Worker Center is proud to have helped champion this legislation and remains committed to ensuring these protections are fully implemented and that our communities know their rights.

Together, we continue building a safer, stronger, and more just Massachusetts for everyone.

Last weekend, the Brazilian Worker Center's Immigrant Youth Advancement (IYA) Program had the opportunity to participate in the MassCOSH Labor, Health and Safety Summit, held at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute.

Throughout the day, our youth took part in workshops and educational sessions focused on workplace health and safety, workers' rights, financial literacy, and leadership development. They also had the chance to connect with advocates, labor leaders, and community organizations committed to building safer and more equitable workplaces.

Experiences like this help empower the next generation of leaders by providing knowledge, building confidence, and encouraging civic engagement. We are incredibly proud of our IYA participants for representing the Brazilian Worker Center with enthusiasm and a commitment to learning.

Thank you to for creating this valuable opportunity and to the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for hosting such an inspiring event.

Good News! The PROTECT Act has made it through the conference committee, with both chambers' versions now reconciled into a single, unified bill. It heads back to the House today for a confirmation vote, and will then move to the Senate for final approval before going to Governor Maura Healey's desk to be signed.

We are deeply grateful to the House and Senate leadership for supporting this bill, and to the PROTECT Act conference committee for their thoughtful work reconciling both versions. Special thanks to the Black and Latino Legislative Caucus for authoring the original legislation, and to Governor Maura Healey for standing firmly behind its core principles.

We urge the House and Senate to give final approval to the PROTECT Act as soon as possible, so it can move swiftly to 's desk.

The PROTECT Act establishes clear, statewide guidelines that help protect due process, strengthen public safety, and ensure that sensitive spaces such as schools, hospitals, and courthouses remain accessible to everyone without fear. Every resident, regardless of immigration status, deserves safe access to essential public institutions.

$1.1M SETTLEMENT APPROVED ⚖️💪

Suffolk County Superior Court granted final approval to a $1.1 million settlement in Campos v. Gardini, LLC, securing back wages for workers.

The complaint alleged labor violations by Gardini, LLC — a law firm well known in the Brazilian community — showing that even the legal industry isn't exempt from worker rights issues.

Led by the Brazilian Worker Center, with Justice at Work and Ortiz & Moeslinger, P.C.

💬 "This settlement sends a clear message: worker exploitation will not be tolerated." — Lenita Reason, BWC Executive Director
