It’s happening. 🌿

Walls are going up, and our new structure is about to become something real. The foundation is set — and this month, we begin building our new equine-assisted activity space, designed to hold healing, connection, and hope for the children and families we serve.

Even Baby and Seven stopped by to supervise — we appreciate the quality control. 🐴

We are so grateful for every donor, volunteer, and believer who made this possible, in particular the Pellerito Family (our Principal Donor), Katchmark Construction, and Lark Brewing Co.

Stay tuned. This is just the beginning.

When I started Ohana, I never imagined we would one day be named in a Loudoun County proclamation.

But here we are.

The Board of Supervisors officially proclaimed May as Mental Health Awareness Month — and recognized as a community working to reduce stigma and ensure no one faces mental health challenges alone.

That is the whole heart of this work. Showing up. Staying connected. Making sure families and children know there is a place for them here.

I am so grateful to Loudoun County for seeing what this community is building together — and to every volunteer, donor, and family who makes it possible.

More good days, together. 🌿

It is quietly powerful to sit beside your child — not to teach, not to fix — but simply to be present together.

Rooted in Gratitude is an evening designed for exactly that.

On July 22nd, caregivers and children (ages 9–12) are invited to slow down on our 81-acre preserve and explore thankfulness through guided journaling and watercolor art — anchored in the Biblical understanding that a grateful heart is one that is cultivated, tended, practiced.

You’ll share time with the horses, create something beautiful, and leave with something even more lasting: a deeper connection with each other.

“Rooted and built up in Him… overflowing with thankfulness.” — Colossians 2:6–7

Pineapple met Theo today.

They didn’t seem to notice the size difference. Just two horses — gentle, patient, curious — saying hello the only way horses know how. Nose to nose, no words needed.

It’s that same quality of presence that makes the animals at Ohana such profound companions for the children and families we serve.

The farm has a way of teaching what a classroom cannot.

A troop of Junior Girl Scouts came to Ohana last week to work toward their Shapes in Nature badge — and the farm had a lot to teach. They wandered the herb garden looking for patterns, found symmetry in petals and leaves, met the horses at the fence, and held the rabbits close.

Then they sat together on the deck and made art. Each girl placed flowers and plants beneath fabric, picked up a smooth rock, and pounded — pressing color and shape into something they could carry home. Radial symmetry. Fibonacci spirals. Nature’s quiet geometry, right there in dandelion and stem.

They came for a badge. They left carrying their art, and something harder to name.

That’s the whole point. 🌿

We set a goal of $1,000 for the Horses for Mental Health campaign. You helped us raise $1,700!

We’re grateful for everyone who shared, donated, or simply took a moment to learn what horses do for the people who need them most.

Ohana will keep showing up — in the barn, in the pasture, in the quiet space between a child and a horse.

Thank you for being part of this. Much aloha. 🌺

This is what it looks like when people show up for themselves and each other. A Tree of Life workshop led by the wonderful — resin, crystals, laughter, and work that will hang on walls for years.

We are so grateful for this community. 🌿

Today we pause to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country. We hold their families — and every family carrying a loss — in our hearts.

Grief doesn’t move in a straight line. Some days it’s heavy and still. Some days it just needs to keep walking.

These two know something about that.

To all who are remembering someone today — we see you. We’re walking with you.

With gratitude and reverence this Memorial Day. 🌿
