Mental stimulation is essential for your Borzoi. It helps create a positive outlet for excess energy, reduces stress levels, slows cognitive decline and builds confidence. All of which promote a sense of calm.

Successfully figuring out a game or learning a new trick boosts your Borzoi's self-assurance. Working together also strengthens the trust and communication between Borzoi and human, taking your relationship to the next level.

Puzzle toys, interactive games, short, positive training sessions, sniff games and scent walks are just some of the ways to incorporate mentally enriching activities into their daily routine.

“Hi, my name is Stella! I’d say that I was your typical, little Borzoi girl but, let’s face it, there is NOTHING typical about a Borzoi, much less a precious Baby Girl! So let me tell you a bit about myself. Hang on… maybe we should break for some affection first? You might just want to caress my soft self and gaze upon my smile?

Ok so back to basics… I’m beautiful of course, and playful, and sweet, and bright, and full of love and joy! I have impeccable manners: leash trained, potty trained, crate trained, and stairs!! Life is a bowl of treats, tralala!!

I also have a sister, wink wink…. OOOOPS! Was I supposed to tell you that? We can DO anything (together, if you are game, or separately which requires a little less courage, teehee!!)!

Just listen to someone who knows!! “I mean. You can't have just one. They need a friend. A cuddle buddy. Someone to share their brain cell with and possibly plot wide scale destruction of their benefactor's residence.” Right?!!

So let’s have some fun and explore this wonderful life together!”

Stella (and her secret sister) are just 15 months young! These girls have no baggage. They are delightful, perfect examples of Borzoi puppyhood joy! They love zoomies, snuggles and socializing. Have you been longing for a smaller sized Borzoi? These petite babies are the exception to the rules of average. They top out at 26”, the low end of the standard and are Borzoi through and through!

Fostered in the midwest, these girls like to play ROUGH so kids are a no go. A secure fence is a must to keep them safe. Together or separate, they hold all the promise of a lifetime of joy. They WILL be heart hounds.

What’s better than one NBRF Borzoi? Why two (or more) of course! NBRF Rescue Becca or “TriBecca” came under our protection seven and a half years ago. Her right front leg had healed poorly from a break and resulted in her having it amputated.

Just two years ago NBRF - International Rescue Roman was part of a clandestine meeting held late one night in a Russian territory under cover of darkness. That meeting was the beginning of his successful journey to the states.

Separately they found their ways to forever. And now together they are living their Happily Ever Afters. Thank you, Denise for opening your heart and home to these two deserving souls. Your dedication and love has given them what they could only dream of before you became family.

"Roman and TriBecca “Bec” are both doing great!

Bec, affectionately known as the White Russian, is healthy as a horse. Ironically, she’s the least medically needy of the pack considering she has the fewest legs. She went through a short period of grief this year when we remodeled our walk-in closet and she lost her cool, dark, and quiet cave, but she adjusted quickly and now sleeps right in the middle of the walkway from the bedroom to the bathroom. Every time we have to step over her, she just looks up at us with interest, like “why do you sound so inconvenienced?”

Roman, affectionately known as the Ginger, was the perfect addition to our pack. I’ve never had a dog (or a man) love me like Roman does. He looks at me like a duckling who has imprinted on the first human it sees after hatching. I’m convinced he’s plotting a way to open me up and crawl inside just to be closer to me. His jealous streak towards any other dog (or man) getting my attention rivals the green-eyed monster itself. But don’t be fooled, he is so kind and friendly to everyone he meets. He loves the Labrador Retriever next door who hangs out with us every day while her parents are at work. Whenever we are out and about, he walks up to every human with an idle hand and sits down waiting for adoration and scritches.

I never have to worry about my legs getting cold because I always have a Russian or two cozying up to me. Be careful if you’re standing around without a couch or a wall to hold onto, you may get pushed over by an aggressive leaner wanting attention. They both have healthy appetites and have been spoiled with Farmer’s Dog fresh food. The only negative thing I can say is that they make lousy co-workers."

Did you know that the National Borzoi Rescue Foundation is the ONLY Domestic (U.S.) and International non-profit 501c3 Rescue dedicated exclusively to BORZOI in need? Every team member is a volunteer working for the love of our breed. Together they've been saving lives since 1994!

NBRF does not take chances with our well being! Their adoption process is time consuming and thorough. They aren't looking to place a Borzoi in every home. They are looking to place every Borzoi in THE home that best suits our individual needs for a wonderful, fulfilling life. That's a big difference! And for the rest of our lives they remain our safety net.
