We reach out to visitors and landowners who've been touched by the spirit of the Torch Lake Watershed. We share how to live a water-friendly lifestyle, whether you're here for a day, a week, the summer or year round. By using the tools and tips found in TRUE BLUE Living, you'll protect the future- our common drinking water and the lake we all enjoy with our family and friends. We work to conserve

land, regardless of its size. As a local land conservancy focused on the Torch Lake Watershed, our team of experienced professionals will help landowners maintain the natural assets they treasure and protect the investment they've made in their land. We'll help you make a difference.

Lake days are back! ☀️💙

After a week of warm weather across Northern Michigan, summer is finally settling in. Nothing says lake season quite like relaxing in a hammock with a view like this.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful Torch Lake moment, Diane Burch-Verploegh!

The sun is spitting out solar flares, and those flares could be the sign of a geomagnetic storm brewing.

NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) says multiple solar flares have occurred over the past 24 hours. SWPC also says more flares should occur over the next two days.

As a result, NOAA is indicating there may be a geomagnetic storm forming in the next few days.

Need to get rid of w**ds? Consider a Torch Lake-friendly solution. 🌱

Many traditional w**d killers can wash into nearby waterways through rain and runoff. Before reaching for harsh chemicals, try this simple homemade w**dicide:

True Blue Weedicide
✔️ 1 gallon cleaning vinegar*
✔️ ¼ cup liquid dishwashing detergent

Mix in a garden sprayer, shake well, and spray directly on w**ds on a sunny, windless day. Repeat as needed.

Optional: Add 1 cup table salt if you want to prevent regrowth. Keep in mind that salt will sterilize the soil, making it difficult for anything else to grow in that area.

White vinegar from the grocery store (5% acetic acid) is often strong enough for most w**ds. Stronger cleaning vinegar (15–20% acetic acid) is available at garden and hardware stores. If using a stronger concentration, wear gloves and eye protection.

Small choices in our yards can make a big difference for Torch Lake.
