This week is volunteer appreciation week and as a volunteer-run nonprofit, it's only fitting for us to highlight our ATF family.
There are so many moving parts to Angel Tree Farms and the biggest gear is our volunteers. They are the only reason we are able to put on our fundraisers and our whole holiday season. They always come with helping hands and fantastic ideas. They are our family.
Juke is our vice president and Bill, our president's, long time friend. You may be thinking, "Of course he shows up, he's on the board!" But he gives more time to us than he sometimes has time for. He spends every weekend for months every year helping Bill build anything and everything. Sometimes he brings his daughters too, who are always willing to give their time, generous and hard-working just like their dad. Juke has been with us since the beginning and he's not allowed to leave because we'd miss him too much!
The Lick's are old family-friends. Cliff, now on our executive committee, immediately bought into our story after reuniting with Bill almost two years ago and now he's stuck too, along with his wife, Jamie, who is also on our Board of Directors, their two kids, Raena and Clifford, and Clifford's girlfriend, Addy. You'll never meet anyone more reliable and willing to help. They are always around, taking time away from their own business to get involved however possible. Even their extended friends and family pitch in with help or a donation. Specifically, Jamie's best friend Ashley, was a great help during this past years fundraisers and running crafts during the holiday season. They are the group that runs to Michigan and North Carolina to get our trees for the holiday season. They are, quite literally, one of the only reasons we are able to stay open and help people every year.
Randy is one of Bill's friends from work and also on our executive committee. He started out helping drop off trees to the farm our first few years, when we got them locally. Eventually, he got roped (he roped himself in) into our team and him and his family do so much for us. Randy is our tree whisperer. He knows everything about Christmas tree farming and his knowledge and hard work are irreplaceable on the farm. His wife, Stacy, and daughter, Skylnn, are always willing to help out or hold down the fort at home while heās working with us at ATF. We couldnāt do it without them.
Lots of Billās coworkers from Pitt Ohio come to help out in their own special way. DSK works his own life around making sure to come help out at the tree farm. Heās always around to put in work and is good at almost everything. Meghan is our cookie maker and 50/50 girl. Anything we need, she has it: a working hand, a speaker, some cookies, or even a pocket knife and nail clippers. Her and her husband, Seth, always find time to make it out and help, even as Meghan gets closer to having her first child!! Tim, a close family friend, comes up from Philly with his son, Timmy Jr, to push us through our busiest weekends. Kiel always comes with a laugh and a positive attitude, bright and early to help set up even on his busiest weekends. Jared, John, Mattie, Anthony, Bobby, and Takota all come through to get in on the action multiple times a season purely from the goodness of their hearts. They are the muscle of Angel Tree Farms.
The Davis Family is what started it all. A single phone call to Nevin Sr. made ATF what we see today. Nevin, Yvonne, and Arden come out every weekend, every work day, every time we need them, to give a hand and work their hardest. We didnāt name our first tree plot after them for no reason!! They were the final glue that we needed to make Angel Tree Farms possible and to think about not having them would be to imagine Angel Tree Farms as non-existent. They are the foundation for our whole operation.
Susan is our treasurerās sister. She got involved during our first Christmas in July fundraiser. Having done craft fairs and fundraisers for years, she came in as our event coordinator. Since 2023, she has come to help out during the holiday season and helps put together our fundraisers. She does lots of things that most of us donāt know how to and is always two steps ahead.
Gina is our secretaryās old dance teacher. Sheās always been amazing, at teaching tap dancing and also as a member of the community. As we reconnected with her recently, she has become a big part of our volunteering! Her and her husband, Corey, both have come out to help us plant trees and will continue to be staples of our volunteer base, both passionate about what we do and extremely hard-workers.
Santa. Oh, Santa! He supports us through everything we do and always finds time to be with us, putting more smiles on the faces of kids all over the Lehigh Valley. His optimism and kindness have reshaped our mindsets even in the toughest of times. He puts the āmerryā in Merry Christmas. Heās been with us for so very long and always finds ways to surprise us with his dedication, hard-work, and love for us and our mission. We love you, Santa!
Lastly, to all the people who have helped here or there over the last 5 years, thank you. Our friends, our family, our volunteerās friends and family, the Emmaus High School National Honors Society, the Boy Scouts, and so many more! You are all what makes all of this possible. So, all that being said, Happy Volunteer Appreciation Week and thank you to all of our phenomenal volunteers who take their time and love and put it into all that we do.
