This life is hard. You sacrifice a lot. There’s times where you are extremely isolated and alone. Traveling is difficult…especially for long distance or for a day or more of time. You miss important moments with family and friends. I’m fortunate to have people in my life that understand what I’m doing and encourage and support me. I love fire works on the 4th and New Years. It’s very difficult for me to go watch because I have to stay home with the horses in case someone sets off fire works in the neighborhood. Last new years we had several horses go through our fence running from the fireworks. We are still repairing that section of fencing as it is very expensive. All this to say I think God knew I was missing the fireworks and decided to paint the sky. So I got a beautiful show after all! # blessed

Some lessons are hard to keep everyone’s attention… especially when God paints the sky like this. 🌤️🐴

My students and I kept looking up instead of focusing on the lesson. Between the horses, the clouds, and the beauty all around us, it was one of those moments that reminds you why you choose this life.

Sometimes the best lessons don’t happen in the saddle—they happen when you pause, take a deep breath, and appreciate the incredible world around you. 💙

Did we get distracted? Absolutely.
Was it worth it? Every single second.

Gwen and Lynn, thank you for supporting our mission and visiting our ranch! We had lots of laughs!

For thousands of years, horses carried humanity forward. They plowed our fields, carried us into battle, transported our families, and helped build the world we live in today.

Now it’s our turn to carry them.

At our nonprofit horse rescue, we believe every horse deserves safety, dignity, and a second chance. Through rescue, rehabilitation, horseback riding, lessons, and volunteer opportunities, we’re creating a place where both horses and people can heal and thrive together.

But we can’t do it alone. The horses in our care depend on the kindness of people who believe they deserve a future. Your support helps provide feed, medical care, shelter, and rehabilitation for horses who have nowhere else to turn.

Come ride with us, volunteer, or make a donation and help us honor the animals that helped build our modern world. (And you’ll be ready for the apocalypse just in case!)

At Saddle Up Ranch, every ride is more than just a trail ride—it’s a chance to connect with incredible rescued horses, experience the beauty of nature, and make a real difference. Whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation, or meaningful volunteer opportunities, there’s a place for you here.
As a nonprofit horse rescue, we are facing critical funding challenges. Every horseback ride booked, every volunteer hour given, and every donation made helps provide feed, medical care, and a second chance for horses in need.
Come ride with purpose. Volunteer with heart. Help us keep our rescue mission alive.
Book your ride, bring a friend, and become part of the Saddle Up Ranch family today.

What happens when you are driving behind someone too close and they slam on the brakes? 😅 When your horse does it…she might get s**t on! 😂 This is Guinness…judging by the look on her face (and the p**p on her face) I think she has learned her lesson! (Despite her name, Guinness does not drink and drive). 🤣

Claire, you are so much fun to have at the ranch and always make sure that we have a good time! Thank you for your friendship and everything that you do for all of us here! Hopefully people see the sarcasm. Feel free to post a video of me trying to get on one of my project horses by myself without someone holding them. 🤣 (And Wow…you are flexible 😆)

Congrats on being the first student to ride Ollie! Everyone at the ranch has been wanting to ride him and so many guests have asked about this good looking friendly guy!
When you train them the right way, it should look like they have done it 1,000 times even when they are doing it for the first time! This jumping on them and spurring them and “bucking them out” is for jokers and bad horsemen. And constantly giving cookies and “gentle parenting” horses does not work and is not good training! It should look boring. It should look easy. Come and learn a better way at SaddleUpRanch.org!
