Thank you to everyone who came to my ACTHA trail competition this past weekend at my ranch in Temecula and for supporting
Saddle Up Wine Tours LLC. Thank you to our sponsors again, Landford's Rustic Creations! PLEASE GO LIKE OUR SPONSOR'S FACEBOOK PAGE! The prizes were awesome and so far we have a 5 star rating for the ride! I loved having everyone. What a great group of horsemen and competitors. Such sportsmanship, integrity and kindness demonstrated the whole weekend!

Our next trail competition is Nov 21-22 at Fiesta Island. It is a beautiful, fun, easy and safe course. You are going to love it. Check out the Saddle Up ACTHA Events page above for regular updates on the event. To sign up or for more info you can also go to: https://www.actha.us/ride/7837/view

Special shoutout to newcomer Charlene Lewis who I know from the sport of Endurance. Great to see you out there competing in ACTHA on an endurance horse (a Rushcreek horse at that)!

I'm so glad that Jodi Childs introduced me to ACTHA as my ranch uses ACTHA and it's obstacles to desensitize/train all of our horses from the trail horses to the endurance horses to the jumpers. Here is a video of one of our 5yo gelding Thoroughbred jumpers very well during his FIRST training session with a tarp!

Sorry it's so dark...but this may be an obstacle at one of our upcoming events...tailored to the different divisions of course!

Who thinks blindfolding your horse with a tarp while riding should be an obstacle? Ha, don't worry...it won't be, we are just training at the ranch!

Most of you have been reaching out to me via one on one calls or text. I'm posting here to keep everyone informed. What does everyone think about a ride at Fiesta Island (beach and ocean views) on Sept 19-20?

Friends,

Thank you for supporting Saddle Up ACTHA events. I could not have done any of this without you. READ this ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM because I NEED YOUR HELP.

Recently I made it known to some that I was no longer going to host. I have my reasons/frustrations which I am not going to list here because I love ACTHA and I love you guys.

That being said...some of you are relentless...that is a good thing. Some of you have quite literally begged me to keep putting on rides, and I found that flattering and heart warming. So here is what I offer you:

I will commit to putting on ONE more ride. From there I will take it one ride at a time. Do not call and ask me to do a last minute ride. From now on my rides will be planned well in advance. I will need volunteers to commit or I will cancel the ride, so if you have a significant other or moochers (children) who still live at home, voluntell them that they are volunteering.

This one big ride will not be at Camp Pendleton. There's nothing that I can do about that at this time. If that changes, I will let you know.

I NEED YOUR HELP! I want help finding a venue. Please do not suggest a venue that has been done to death, that is inconvenient to get to, that is excessively hot, that we can't get a full 6 miles at without doing the same loop over and over. Keep in mind that many ppl want to camp overnight (including me! Ha). So the venue needs to either allow overnight camping or have overnight boarding options nearby.

**I will choose a venue from one of your suggestions and that person will win FREE LUNCH at the ride for both days! In the event multiple ppl suggest the same venue, whoever suggested it first wins). IF YOU KNOW OTHER ACTHA MEMBERS OR EQUESTRIANS WHO HAVE NOT LIKED THIS PAGE, SHARE IT WITH THEM SO THAT THEY CAN PARTICIPATE TOO!

I need help finding sponsors...getting free stuff to give away (this will be free advertising for whatever companies participate). Network and help me make this one ride something that ppl will remember and something that will attract NEW MEMBERS.

I need help marketing. Use networking! Use Facebook. I'll email you a flyer and you can hang it up in the local feed stores around you and send it to the local barns to attract new members.

I am, as usual, open to any other ideas/suggestions on how I can make my rides better. I love you guys and I love ACTHA. I just need a little help. If you have never hosted, trust me...sometimes you just need a little support and help!

Thank you,
TJ

Here are the directions for the ride this weekend at Bar H Ranch in Perris, CA, in case you decide to come last minute:

*From I-15 exit Cajalco Road. Turn EAST and go to Lake Mathews Drive and turn right. It's the only way you can turn as the lake is on your left. At approximately 3.3 miles after the turn off Lake Mathews Drive, you will see the Bar H sign on your left, jam on the brakes and turn left on the really wide dirt road (Winford Road (unmarked)). We might have some ribbons there if we can remember, ha! Continue 0.2 miles until this dirt road ends at the orange grove. Turn right and go 0.2 miles to the first left and turn into the ranch. Go north past the stop sign and the white fencing to the camping area.

*From I-215 exit Ramona Expressway/Cajalco Road. Travel west and turn left/south on Gavilan Hills Road. Go past the Gavilan Ranch Market to the first street. Turn right on Lake Mathews Road and go exactly 1.8 miles to the camp entrance on Winford Road (unmarked). There is a big Bar H sign at the turn. Follow the above directions into camp.

*From the 91 Freeway exit La Sierra and go 5 miles south to Cajalco Road. Turn left/east for 3.2 miles to Lake Matthews Drive. Turn right/south and follow directions above from the turn off on Lake Matthews Drive.
